Graeme Malcolm
All fifteen-year-old Marco Jameson wants is to become a Danish citizen and go to school like a normal teenager. But his uncle Zola rules his former gypsy clan with an iron fist. Revered as a god and feared as a devil, Zola forces the children of the clan to beg and steal for his personal gain. When Marco discovers a dead body - proving the true extent of Zola's criminal activities - he goes on the run. But his family members aren't the only ones who'll go to any lengths to keep Marco silent - forever.
Meanwhile, the last thing Detective Carl Mørck needs is for his assistants, Assad and Rose, to pick up a missing persons case on a whim: Carl's nemesis is his new boss, and he's saddled Department Q with an unwelcome addition. But when they learn that a mysterious teen named Marco may have as much insight into the case as he has fear of the police, Carl is determined to solve the mystery and save the boy. Carl's actions propel the trio into a case that extends from Denmark to Africa, from embezzlers to child soldiers, from seemingly petty crime rings to the very darkest of cover-ups.

Where does The Marco Effect rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
If you like J. Adler-Olsen then you must get this one!!! It's easily a 10 and on the very top of my list of favorites. It is fast paced, hurdling along the whole way with non-stop action and suspense. What other book might you compare The Marco Effect to and why?
I am not sure if I have read anything so full of suspense and excitement- Maybe Gone Girl (?)but this story is much different, so incomparable at the moment. What does Graeme Malcolm bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Graeme's reading voice brings out the person you want to care for in Marco. In addition because of the great variation in his voice, the character's play out like more in a movie or real life, than a book. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Too many to count. When Marco was thrown out, by those he thought loved him, or when a stranger on the street asked if he was ok. There was much emotion but the graphic and suspenseful parts, moved me too in an edge of the seat way.Any additional comments?
If it isn't already in the works, The Marco Effect would make an incredible movie.Bullet Train!!!

I want to know what he's up to and other adventures involving him. Everyone likes a Robin Hood type character, bad boy turned good. We cheered for him the whole book through- was Tilda's family going to adopt him? (too smooshy), Would he get awarded a scholarship to complete his education at an upper crust boarding school? (too much eye rolling).
Just more please.

If you could sum up The Marco Effect in three words, what would they be?
I loved this book, particularly the Marco character. I would love a whole shelve of books written about a character like him. This is great writer who develops scenes, and characters beautifully. I have to admit I was rooting for one of the bad guys during the bookWhat other book might you compare The Marco Effect to and why?
I'm not sure. I feel like it's uniqueThis is one of those books to savor
