Sad and long but interesting

The narrator was good, really did the story justice.
The author's story and story telling is good.

AudioBooks are difficult to pull off. The author has to produce a story that is both engaging and entertaining. Then the narrator has to do the same thing with their voice and give the story life. If both aren’t top notch the AudioBook is meh or it slips into something less than meh.

This one is just grindy. So very loong and sometimes boring. With a flawed MC striving for power that blinds him it is heart wrenching to see him hurt his friends with his greed for power. Complete with betrayal. Engaging and entertaining, but at times a heavy emotional rollercoaster. Sorta sad.

The magic system and mechanics are very good. The gear and rez mechanic gives me the shivers.
