All Empires Collapse Eventually and America is No Exception. From best selling author Bobby Akart, The Loyal Nine is a gripping novel of an America teetering on the edge of economic and societal collapse. Political suspense collides with post-apocalyptic thriller fiction in the bestselling series - The Boston Brahmin. "A terrifyingly realistic, prescient new series ... which can only be described as prophetic." - G. Michael Hopf, best selling author of The New World Series

With social unrest sweeping the country, Europe on the brink of war and the U.S. economy under siege by foreign nations, a new threat emerges. The nation is caught in the crosshairs of a power struggle between wealthy oligarchs and the political leaders who claim to have the country's best interests at heart.

As the collapse events escalate, enter The Loyal Nine - direct descendants of the Founding Fathers, a modern day Knights Templar whose mission is to protect America, and the republic, from those who would inflict tyranny upon her.

But will America be destroyed from within? Conditions of war are building and they do not involve bullets and bombs. There is a new battleground - cyberspace. As the country descends into decline economically and socially, will America be caught off guard by a threat never before experienced - a devastating Cyber War?

I didn't think I could finish this novel and even quit for a while before making it through the first three hours. Eventually I picked it back up and I have changed my opinion as a result.

There were still a number of annoyances between both the narration and Akart's writing style. Some rambling in the reading, weird pauses, unrealistic dialogue meant to spoon feed readers/listeners sometimes pointless information and detail, and essentially a long novel with no destination other than the next book.

But even with all of these faults, I eventually found myself starting to enjoy it, though it wound up being just in time to have to pick up the next book in the series in order to continue - I haven't yet decided if I will.

Had to let go of some annoyances

America knows that it has many weaknesses. None greater than that from a cyber attack. Fortunately, there are a group of people who can draw their lineage back to the founding fathers that have banded together to help save American from being cut down at the knees. The Loyal Nine is the first book in The Boston Brahmin series and provides a look into the start of a potential collapse and what the loyal nine will do to protect themselves and this great nation.

The narration for The Loyal Nine was done by Joseph Morton who does a fantastic job. He provides the perfect amount of bravado and machismo for the role(s) and makes everything that is going on in the book seem more realistic. You can tell that Morton really got behind the story, it shows in the way that this book is performed.

Akart is a master storyteller. Throughout The Loyal Nine he is really setting the scene for an all-out catastrophe, all while explaining the background and current situation of the Boston Brahmin (aka the Loyal Nine). I felt like I was getting a behind the scenes view of the start of something magical. I don't know if it's the way that Akart writes, or if I was just looking for a story like this. But I was enjoying this from the get-go.

The story itself is insanely relevant to today. I kept thinking, when did he write this? Because the scenes could have been written the night before they felt so real. Most of the story is based on history and current events and Akart does it in such a way that makes it feel like it's playing out for real right in front of you.

The Loyal Nine was definitely an intro book to the rest of the series, and I can promise you one thing. I cannot wait to dive in to see where this goes.

I was provided a free copy of this book by the author.

Especially prudent in today's political climate. I have listened to this series quite a few times now and each time I find myself feeling like it's relevant. Highly recommended!

Such an awesome series!

I have read other books by Akart and loved them, This series focuses on rich republicans that make it hard to relate to or feel bad for when anything happens. This whole series is, I tried to make it through 3 of the series and couldn't.

Disappointing

Flat
That is how the story comes off. There is not a lot of voices that the reader does and at times it sounds monotone.

The story is really good, but again the reader just doesn't deliver when it needs to be there during the few action moments.
His accented voices sound cheap and choppy and reminded me of a character in another book that was even worse with the narrator.
Men sound like men, but almost all the same. Women sound like men.

The narrator is calm though, and won't make freak you out if the story happens to get under your skin.

I give the audio book itself 4 because you can get past the narrator. just a mild annoyance.

No emotion

What made the experience of listening to The Loyal Nine the most enjoyable?

Preppers in the upper echelons of Boston society? Whodathunkit? Very good storyline with an exceptional narration.
Just purchased #2 Cyberattack...... Hope everything is as good in this episode.

*I received a copy of this book for an honest review*

The government pulling the strings behind chaos is not something I'm accustomed to reading in fiction, but I have to say that I enjoyed it. I admit that at times I got a bit lost, but it was mostly explained quite well. The story and build up were great, and I'm getting ready to dive into Cyber Attack, the next book in the series. Now, the characters left a bit to be desired, BUT, we're being introduced to several at once, as this is the first in a series, and I still enjoyed them.

I listened to the audible, and the narrator is very clear and concise, with a pleasant voice and good tempo.

Bob says: something like 3.75 stars!

Good writing and narration but the story is kind of boring. Good groundwork for more!

Well Crafted but Slow!
