Resumen del Editor

In a startling follow-up to the New York Times best-seller The Jesus Family Tomb, a historical detective story that unravels a newly translated document filled with startling revelations and fascinating detail about the life and times of Jesus.

Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century, Jesus' lifetime. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first-ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus' social, family, and political life.

The Lost Gospel takes listeners on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm-shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is astounding: confirmation of Jesus' marriage to Mary the Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary the Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus' life, thirteen years prior to the crucifixion; an assassination attempt against Mary the Magdalene and their children; Jesus' connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul - the Church of Mary the Magdalene. Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Provocative and very interesting....

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! I was raised Roman Catholic, however over the last decade or so, I have found myself at odds with their teachings. The relationship between Mary Magdalene and Jesus continues to intrigue me and how the early Christian Church developed and defined itself is so thoroughly examined by the author.

An Eye opener

This book filled in the blanks on many missing pieces throughout the new testament. What I appreciated the most was learning the back story and history of the surrounding towns and gentile population. If your paradigm hasn't already shifted regarding the Christian Jesus, this book might do it.

Makes sense.

As always, the naked archeologist breaks it down where it is easy to absorb. He fills in the centuries old biblical cracks with his research.

An interesting look at Christian orthodoxy

The book “The Lost Gospel “ is an interesting look at Christian orthodoxy with a totally different view of not only the church but the historical Jesus. Was he single as portrayed in the four gospels on the New Testament, or was he married to Mary the Magdalena? The evidence is presented, predominantly from the Nag Hamadi godpels as found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. If history especially Middle Eastern history or Religious history is your area of interest, then I recommend this read to you.

Alternative Probabilities

Systematic obliteration of alternative knowledge such as the Mayan literature by "Christians" is another example

Influential insight from the hidden gospel .

This insightful translation of the real story of Jesus and Mary is charged with disbelief, and yet factual support across the biblical and historical references to offer a new perspective of the life and motives of Jesus and Mary Magdalene who was truly the wife of Jesus. the truth of this is that like us all, Jesus was human and just q MSN who inspired a greater level of being.

Great listen

While the narrator isn’t the greatest I’ve ever heard he does a decent job. The storyline was excellent though. Well thought out and detailed. I’ll likely listen to it again at some point. I can certainly see why it ruffled feathers but these things usually do, unfortunately.

A compelling case for a hidden history

This book and the audio rendition make a compelling case that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and caught up in a complex web of political rivalries, plots and intrigue.

The analysis of the manuscript and correlation to other texts as well as the canonical gospels is quite detailed, as is the linkage to Roman politics and verifiable historical events.
