The growth of the characters throughout the 3 books.

The plot always was changing & coming coming together very smoothly. The narrator is always spot on & has a great range of emotion’s.

Unpredictable storytelling!

First off, I just wanted to say to the most popular book reviewer on YouTube, the coolest prison guard, and the author of this series, Brian Lee Durfee (AKA: B.LEE.D), that I’m glad that he has survived with his bout against pancreatitis. I hope he continues his recovery and stays in good health. Hopefully he continues on writing and finish his next novel. Live long and prosper good sir!

This review is for the entirety of the series. I love how gory the violence is, how dark some of the themes are, and the characters even when flawed they grow throughout the books. My favorite side characters in the book so far is Liz Hen, Doki and Beermug, The storytelling though is on par with George R.R. Martin, because it makes you think it is predictable when it’s actually not. There are a lot of twist and turns in this series and when things are finally revealed during the epic Fiery Absolution part, it gets intense.

Thanks for the great story. And keep doing what you doing!

Infinite black daggers

Infinite preaching. Infinite battles and narrow escapes. Infinite violence. Quite a bit of sexism and cussing. But not predictable. No dogs are hurt in the listening.

Tala gets to be a scumbag with zero repercussions

high hopes for the series coming out of book 2, nail does literally nothing in 3 books. Tala and ava get to be scumbags the entire series then play victim in the end the walking plot armor beermug shows up to save the day every 5 minutes and spades just gives up on her revenge plot for no reason... what a letdown

Great fantasy trilogy

Any book narrated by Tim Gerald Reynolds is worth listening to! This was a great fantasy sci-fi story and highly recommend!!

what an adventure

I can't believe this series is not more popular, it's so epic. loved it.

Really enjoyed the series!!

I cared what happened to the characters and there where twists I was not expecting.

canis ex machina

Imma say canis ex machina! I still love it though. And the performance of the narrator is superb.

Great characters, great ideas, Meh finish

By this third book we have become familiar that Durfee is trying to flip the story on its head. Tropes are subverted and he does a good job of making g us root for a couple baddies, matter of fact some of the villains in this story are the most interesting characters by far. Black Dugal - who is he? what is his part in all of this? what’s his motivation? Spiderwood - same questions, but also even more intriguing because she is one of the most likable characters in the entire story. There is nothing sinister about the Spider. I felt he was sincere from the beginning, and I wanted to a better ending for him and to know something of his past, who was he before he was the Spider? Did I miss something? And my other favorite baddie, Emma Spades. We got a little more from her than the rest but I wanted more story from her as well, I’d like to know where she came from, learn why she is the way she is. She is a character that makes you hold your breath when she enters the scene.

Nail, Tala, Crysta, Liz Hen, Gault - all enjoyable to read and walk in their shoes. I love that Durfee was not afraid to make 2 of these characters exactly who they were, nobodies but doesn’t mean they can’t be SOMEBODY. Those were the characters I enjoyed most. Those were the parts of the story that I thought really hummed along. Characters that were just ok or stunk:

Lindhoff
Lauri
Doki after a while
Aeros - his schtick got annoying after time and much less evil, just became a pain in the butt.

However, when things started to all come together I felt as though I was just “told” the big details. There weren’t any Ah ha moments. They all kinda just slowly, and I mean slowly came about. I’d like to know more but I don’t think I can read any more. Long books, and my favorite parts were when they were on the journey. Overall performance for the series 4/5 and overall rating for the story 4/5 with this last book getting a 3/5 from me. I’m glad I took part in it, just wanted a little bigger flare at the end.
