Resumen del Editor

The original, groundbreaking The Joy of Sex returns in this audio version of the first (1972) edition of the illustrated sex guide.

Featuring 100 tracks covering all the chapters of the original edition.

A best seller since it was first published in 1972, Alex Comfort's classic work celebrates human physical intimacy with such authority and clarity that a whole generation felt empowered to enjoy sex. It was groundbreaking and unique in the wide range of subjects it discussed and in its reassuring authority and sense of fun.

No other book has come close in providing such a wise, witty, uninhibited - sometimes delightfully eccentric - guide to lovemaking.

As featured in the movie Sex Tape.

Dr Alex Comfort, M.B., D.Sc., (1920-2000) was a leading expert on human sexuality and one of the most versatile authors of the 20th century.

A pioneer in the study of old age, co-founder of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, anarchist, social commentator, novelist and poet, he wrote over 50 books and countless scientific papers. Dr Comfort also worked as head of research on gerontology at University College London, a lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University and Adjunct Professor at the Neuropsychiatric Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles. A member of the Royal Society of Medicine and an Associate Member of the American Psychiatric Association, he died in March 2000, aged 80.

Out of Date

This book has some good stuff in it, but it struggles to understand what it wants to be. It shifts back and forth between a practical sex manual and an anthropological review of human sexuality. If I'm trying to explore my sexuality via a book, I don't want to here about Sumatrians putting peebles down their urethra; that's not at all useful to me.

Another problem I have with this text is its treatment of BDSM. The author talks at length and in detail about bondage and discipline, and that's goo stuff. Dominance and Submission is mentioned, but not given it's full treatment. Often the author talks about submission in a very traditional patriarchal women-as-submissive sort of way. The author flat out kink shames practictioners of Sado-masichism, calling them sociopaths.

Safewords (safe grunts?) are only mentioned in the context of gaging. Otherwise, the author expects the reader to divine the differences between a "no" born out of extasy versus a "no" relinquishing consent.

Overall it's a disappointing representation of BDSM.

I read this because of its role in a supreme court case. If you too are here for historical purposes, I can recommend this. If you are looking for practical sex advice, you will be better served elsewhere.

Excellent Fundamentals

Great primer on the fundamentals of sex that’s still relevant. I’ve had sex with approx. 25-30 partners and this books has helped me to relax more and enjoy the experience with greater playfulness and confidence.

Very disappointed

I couldn’t understand the man and woman talking and maybe the people speaking in your own language and accents would be better
