When science meets purpose

This book really blows and opens your mind! As a medical student that has gone through neuro anatomy and neurological clinical rotations, I can confirm that we tend to unify brain specific areas functions with specific activities- leaving the thinking process uniquely to the brain 🧠. Which yes, it has big functional part on it.

But what about that which is not physical? Like the spirit, soul? We can’t explain such things as that in the physical brain. We as humans are so much more than that. We have a real conscience. And I am greatful to have listened to this audiobook. It was worth every minute.

From the perspective of an experienced neurosurgeon, looking at the brain as he describes beautifully with a vast of references, is really just wonderful and humbling!

The book is backed by real life observations from a actual neurosurgeon with 7000 patients. This makes him the world’s most authoritative expert on the brain and how it’s works.

I recommend Scientific Creationism.

Don’t expect a total science textbook.

This was a good overall argument for an immortal mind and soul. If you come to this book expecting it to be materialist science, “sanitized” of religious ideas, and deeply technical into neurology, you will be unhappy. But if you want a multifaceted argument for what the argument embraces, it does a very good job at communicating to laymen and people with some education. And it has a message and a purpose to change its audience, so don’t be expecting complete neutrality. I agree with the author’s views, so I am not offended. If you are from the Academy, you might be offended by some things, but that doesn’t make them wrong. Good luck.

Five stars! An absolute must-read!

I have read widely in consciousness studies over the past 40 years and put this book in the top echelon of books dealing with this contentious topic. Like Egnor, I was a scientific materialist until I was confronted with evidence pointing to the greater reality in which, as Carl Jung said, we are spiritual beings having a physical existence. Egnor had a direct personal spiritual awakening. Mine was mediated through patients I had resuscitated in the emergency department sharing their stories of traveling out of body to another, wondrous world. I will buy hard copies of this book to give to my college-age granddaughters so that they don't waste precious years wandering in an agnostic miasma before seeing the light.

Immortal Soul

I believe in existence of a power which we experience everyday and take it for granted. This book opened my mind and i would like to be a good soul helping others around me for we are all fortunate to have this immortal soul in us.

Clarity of the Complex

I really appreciate the clarity that the author gives to such a complex subject. His hands on experience in neurology is evidence of the truths he slices through exposing questionable thinking.
