Terrifying but helpful

As a social worker I can not thank Barbara enough for this story. This book will have you gripping your seat and having to finish the next chapter. The way it was told was excellent!
Just so unbelievable and believed at the same time. The experience it gave me as a social worker , I will find a way to contact Barbara and tell her. Must read!!

Incredible

As hard as this book was to hear, I can’t imagine how hard it was to write. A brave author and a tragic tale told boldly and with courageous detail. I recommend that anyone who can should listen to this book.

Fabulous

Amazing story, and so tragic at the same time!! I definitely recommend this book. I can't imagine any child being able to make it through what the author and others endured.

Maybe the saddest story I’ve ever read.

We must all do better to protect children. Don’t ignore signs of child abuse. See something say something.

Too horrific to believe!

This story is saddening, maddening, horrific, just too many adjectives come to mind to describe it. Almost too awful to believe. Found I could not stop listening. God bless this author for what she lived through and survived. Sad to think that situations like this happen -- and without a doubt, still do today!! :(

I Pray for the Survivors of Aston Hall

It was difficult to hear but I'm so grateful that the information is out there allowing people to heal, and hopefully the adults that were complicit to suffer.

Spell binding story of a childhood interupted

Well written and kept my attention, but a terribly sad story. I would recommend this book

The rage I feel

Sadly, children are often the victims of unspeakable trauma and violence as was Barbara and the others. Adults who perpetrate this evil and any who sit idly by should be damned to the depths of hell. I hope Dr Milner is burning now.

Couldn't put it down

Incredible. If you didn't know otherwise, you would think this is just a really good fiction/horror tale. Just incredible.

Well-Written, Beautifully Narrated, Horrific Abuse

I listened to this book after it was mentioned at the end of “The Boy In The Cellar.” Both autobiographical accounts of abuse both before and during their separate stays at Ashton Hall. I am as saddened by the abuse encountered as I am that no one would believe these children.
