This is not a deep book, no likeable characters. No character development. The story was interesting, but it was basically an entire book of arguments. Narration was absolutely horrible.

Excellent story!

With a family like that I was surprised there weren’t more murders! The jealousies, secrets and grudges tore the family apart that a week long holiday at a rented cottage may not be able to mend. The narration by Jenny Myers was outstanding and brought the characters (especially the horrible ones) to life. I couldn’t stop listening to the book and stayed up until it was finished. Then I couldn’t fall asleep! Looking forward to reading another of Maria Frankland’s books.

Nothing better than a bloody dysfunctional family holiday week!

Loved all of the characters and the plot! The ending was just what I hoped it would be like, but didn’t want these family characters stories to end because Maria Franklin has a way of writing unforgettable characters! Screenplays could be made from her books!

Great Read/Listen

This was a nice story until it wasn't! It definitely kept me entertained and guessing what would happen next. It had a nice turn towards the end that I didn't see coming!

Lots of secrets

Absolutely stunning story......captivated and held my interest from start to finish. I could defenitely hate Karl and Martha! As for narrator Jenny Myers.....I loved the emotion in your voice when portraying the characters..... Good job👌🏻

Magnificent

Definitely more than a five star listen, there’s lots of twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat, I definitely highly recommend this audio book, Me and my husband share this account Richard and Shauna Joesten

The Holiday cottage

The story was good. Narration by Jenny Myers was good, but, grating.I know it was meant to be. I was given this book free for an honest review.

Excellent performance!

By far my favourite of Maria Frankland’s stories. And Jenny Myers’ portrayal of the characters with their different accents was great! She really makes the characters come alive. I always look forward to listening to any book she narrates.

I’m truly amazed at the high rating for this one

The narrator has a lovely voice while narrating the story. The voice used for the characters are so grating, it was like nails on a chalkboard. Screeching, high pitched, an extremely strange accent. The story would have been far more enjoyable had the narrator used her own voice throughout the book. I found the characters to be vile for the most part and very one dimensional. I’m very disappointed in this one, especially given the high ratings.
