Sheriff Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear embark on their latest adventure in this novella set in the world of Craig Johnson's New York Times best-selling Longmire series - the basis for the hit drama Longmire, now on Netflix.

When Wyoming highway patrolman Rosey Wayman is transferred to the beautiful and imposing landscape of the Wind River Canyon, an area the troopers refer to as no-man's-land because of the lack of radio communication, she starts receiving "officer needs assistance" calls. The problem? They're coming from Bobby Womack, a legendary Arapaho patrolman who met a fiery death in the canyon almost a half century ago.

With an investigation that spans this world and the next, Sheriff Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear take on a case that pits them against a legend: The Highwayman.

Another winner from the Craig Johnson/George Guidall combo. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Walt Longmire series. I highly recommend this book to all Longmire fans.

Captivated from beginning to end. I am always thrilled by the writing and the spoken word of these two.

Could not miss a second! it holds you close, waiting for the other shoe to drop. well narrated, with good separation of each player, I felt like a spectator to the goings on, well done.!

Gripping Story

The Highwayman was typically good Craig Johnson and true to the tradition of his Longmire lore. the characters - new and old - were richly written, the prose descriptive without being overbearing or tedious. I could easily envision, and even feel, the tension, danger and exhaustive relief
of the scene with (spoiler alert) Walt battling the rapids to rescue Rosie. Good stuff! I must admit, however, that I suspected elements of the ending before it came, but it was still grea reading/listening.

Typical Craig Johnson - A good Longmire story

If you could sum up The Highwayman in three words, what would they be?

Engaging good storytelling

Who was your favorite character and why?

Walt, he is an endearing man whose life experiences and imperfections give him true character

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The portrayal he projects as narrator is believable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both

Another great Longmire tale

Very good narration and storytelling. Spooky. Better than the TV series and I love that.

A Must Listen

Kept my interest! very well narrated, the story of a presumed deceased Highwayman & whether he stole coins from a robbery that went awry in a lonely stretch of highway. Some Indian folklore weaved in!

Nice & short

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I found the story drew me in again and again. There is a wonderful blending of western rationale and the native beliefs. It is a beautiful story of purpose, friendship, the many ways we love and redemption.

Compelling....this story draws me over and over.

I love the Longmire stories by Craig Johnson. The narrator does a wonderful job. The mystery is good. There are spooky aspects to the story. What's not to like?

I can't remember if I picked this up as a Daily Special from Audible, or if I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. In either case, this is my honest opinion.

Highly recommended

What I expect from Longmire. Was sorry to get to the end. Had to listen to the last chapter twice.
