I’m hooked

The story was a little slow getting going, but I am hooked now. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Entertaining Urban Fantasy Story

I received a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.
It took me a little while to get into the story as the characters developed. I wasn't sure quite what to expect at first. The main character, Red, and others are believable. There were good details that drew me into the story. The author wrote military characters and dialogue, both human and fantasy, that were believable. I liked the authors explanation of how magic worked, and liked the human IT guy whose tech seemed magical to the elf, dwarf, and troll. Characters are well-layered and not flat stereotypes some stories seem to fall back on. The narrator worked well for most of the characters, but I had some trouble when the troll spoke because the pitch seemed a little high. The narrator did a great gravely-voiced troll otherwise.
The story had some nice, snarky dialogue, and I found myself laughing at some of the snappy comebacks and friendly banter. I enjoyed listening, and look forward to the next book in the series.
