Can't believe publisher released this performance

I've read the book years ago so I know the story is good. This performance/reading is extremely difficult to listen to. More than half the time the narrator sounds as if she is drunk or has the flu. Words are slurred and mispronounced. I usually enjoy Marguerite Gavin's performances, but this was absolutely horrible. I can't believe the publisher released this! The listeners, those people who pay money for this audiobook, deserve to have this title re-recorded and republished and replaced here on Audible.

A lot better than the 1st book

I like this book better than the last book. I still like this book. Now, onto the next book. Finishing my sort of binge.

Better than the first!

I really liked this. The series is an urban fantasy, and seems like a more feminine version of the Dresden series, but it has its own feel and style. The first book introduced the world and dealt with the MC leaving the organization she worked for and then being hunted. You could say that book was very self centered. This book really opens up the view, showing other power organizations, more info on vampires and spellcasters, and starts building some personal and professional relationships. It really felt like a more fleshed out book because it wasn't so zoomed in on just the MCs life.

I can't wait to get the next one. Highly recommended.

love this series, Rachel especially. audio seemed clipped in a few places, but not enough to really bother me too much.

Better than last book!!!

More substance! I'm glad that they developed the characters more this time. The storyline is getting really good!

A great read!

I am probably the slowest listener in the history of Audible! For me, that's a result of one of Audible's best features. While I still read printed books, Audible represents perhaps 95% of my "reading". I have found that the more I like the Author/title/narrator combination, the longer it takes me to complete the book. Unlike reading a printed book there are no more dog-eared pages. If for any number of reasons where I've been unable to listen for some time I will backtrack a chapter and re-listen to get my mind back into the storyline. I found on occasions that I discover much to my delight that I missed an important nuance and I find myself having an ah-ha moment!

As I progress through " The Hollows" series of Ms. Harrison with Marquerite Gavin narrating I've come to the realization that I'd best prepare for a nice long and slow listen! I listened to the first title of this series and was intrigued. Midway through this title, I was well and truly hooked on "The Hollows!"

There are quite likely those within the Audible community that eschew authors such as Ms. Harrison and the books that she has quite successfully had published and which now are subsequently picked up on Audible. These are the readers that prefer " literature" and believe that anything with a hint of mass-market appeal is beneath them. These are the wine snobs of the reading public!

In 1970, I was a not yet disillusioned young Field Artilleryman stationed in Vietnam. There were paperback books that were so enjoyable that they were passed from hand to hand; soon to be held together by rubber bands and tape. Some became so "war-torn" that entire pages had to be carefully transcribed by hand before the page became totally indecipherable! But they continued to be passed on. The cardinal sin was either failing to pass it on or worse yet losing it entirely. If Ms. Harrison was writing of The Hollows in that way back time, I've no doubts but that her books would be of the war-torn, rubberbanded, and taped! As long as she keeps writing, I'll keep reading. In my estimation that makes for a pretty good working relationship. I have the rubber bands and tape ready at hand! I had plenty of practice.

THE EVER AFTER

"Once a runner always a runner" should be the theme for this novell as Rachael never quit gets away from being manipulated into doing just that. Th characterization of each individuals are well defined to the plot of the storyline and keeps me wanting to know what twist and turn is coming and how will the heroine fair in surviving another supernatural onslaught. I love the narrator's performance for the story and excellent vocal skills.

loved it couldn't stop listening

I loved this and I hate being read to but the story is so captivating that it's great!

I enjoyed the story, the story reader did a great job and I am excited to move to book 3.
