Loved the modern fantasy

I loved how the author made the intermingling of fables and mythology to the modern fantasy setting of new sinsi. the world building, despite being fantasy, really made you feel like it could exist. the dynamics between the characters felt so natural as well. please skip this next part of your dont want spoilers

I just wish that the ending was left less open ended, I was looking forward to their reunion.

Best fantasy romance I’ve read all freaking YEAR

The story was AWESOME. Loved the lore, loved the suspense, loved the action. Loved that the romance didn’t overtake the story itself but added to it ❤️☺️🥹

I love the relationship between the god and the gumiho. The sense of humor is so great in the book too. Their relationship building is very entertaining and I really appreciate that their romance is not written in a cringy way. If that makes sense? Anyways I love this! I loved the modern fantasy aspect. I want a sequel now after the ending!

The characters in this book are based on an ancient Korean myth, but the story is set in a fantasy world with elements of mystery and romance. Out of my comfort zone, but what an incredible book. There wasn't anything I didn't love about this book. It's 2 points of view every other chapter. Both of the narrators were great. The characters are different than anything I've ever read. Great back story for both main characters. Plot twists I didn't see coming. It's hard to review this book without giving too much about the plot, but that would spoil the book. Saw it on booksgram and glad I gave it a try. Unfortunately, I have run out of credits, so I will have to wait a few weeks to listen to the sequel

Enjoyable as a whole

I loved the South Korean mythology and that is was set in the 90s. The two leads interaction for half of the book was really annoying. I almost DNF’ed the book but the plot kept me going and then at the ending was satisfying. The whole time I kept thinking I’m not continuing with this series until the end of the book and now I will be reading the second book. Hopefully the characters won’t be so annoying.

Poetic Justice

This was so good and funny! The trickster god being played like a fool was hilarious. Not only do you have a serial killer on the loose, but she is also hiding in plain sight and making the person who is hunting her down look like an idiot. Kim Hani is one of the best female FMCs I have read in a while. She is witty, strong, and confident in who she is, but she also has a big heart.

Seokga is a hard pill to swallow at first, but he eventually grows on you. His character is intense and significant. He doesn’t deserve happiness after the stunts he pulled on his brother, and he knows that, but Kim doesn’t care. She is always trying to find the best in everybody, even if they are an investigator whose job is to find her and kill her.

So good!!!

Such a fun time. Learning about Korean lore was really fun, even though it’s just inspired by it. Narrators were great !

I really enjoyed it

This was the first book I read with my sisters for our book club. All four of us read it together! I enjoy a good fantasy. Great read!
