Adrienne King is excellent!!!

Not surprisingly, this is a great story from Grady Hendrix -- inventive, funny, moving, and terrifying.

And Adrienne King (the final girl from Friday the 13th, killed at the very beginning of Part 2) knocks it out of the park as the narrator!

Oh Adrienne

I REALLY wanted to enjoy Adrienne’s narration because I absolutely love her, but this is not her thing. I felt like I was listening to a kindergarten teacher reading me a book. I even sped it up to 1.3 times and it still wasn’t less than a bowl for me. I really like this author, but I think I’m going to have to read this one instead. I had to return it.

Slasher horror with a social commentary

This novel is amazing…as a fan of horror and a feminist, this book combines both! An engaging read and compelling plot!

Speed it up

If you speed it up to 1.8 you can still fully understand the narrator and her voice is tolerable.

Like many Hendrix books you will love it or hate it. It’s pretty darn good! I’d rank it up there with Southern Book Club. It’s better than Horrorstor and Best Friends Exorcism.

Give it a go!

Story great but the narrator was awful

Not sure why this narrator was chosen. Her phrasing was weird - it was as if she hadn't read the book ahead of time to consider the sentence flow, so there were weird breaks that don't occur when the narration is thought through. It felt choppy and the emphasis was often odd.

Mixed bag

Loved the story, the funny and the scary but the performance… was not good. I did not enjoy the choices made by the performer for the narrator of the the story. Very distracting.

Can't Get Past the Narrator

The story has so much promise, but I feel like a kindergarten teacher is reading it to me.

Loved this, but did have a few slow moments

Overall I loved this! Although,there were a few times in the story that went on for way too long and other moments I wish were given more time and detail. I also found myself annoyed at times with the main character and yelling at her, haha.

Save your ears

If you don’t want to spend time wishing you had something sharp in your eardrum I was with, do yourself a favor and get the actual book and read it yourself. This woman’s voice is enough to make your skin crawl. There’s no definition between any of the characters and she sounds like a robot. I was reading it in a book group in multiple people but an audio and we all felt the exact same way.

A book that I wasn’t able to guess the entire outcome of! Finally!

I really enjoyed this book and was looking forward to it coming out on Audible. I found that the story kept me engaged throughout and finally I wasn’t able to guess the entire outcome of this book. Most books I can guess what the outcome is going to be about a quarter of the way into to the book and it ruins the suspense of the book and the enjoyment and I ens up abandoning a lot of books. This book I kept giving me different outcomes for this book and I was guessing throughout and i loved that! The story was well written and engaging and the plot twist in the book is amazing after all of the “imagined” plot twists. It’s a wonderful read or listen. The narrator wasn’t the best but if you tune her out and pay attention to the story it isn’t an issue.
