Wasn’t expecting the Scriptures

But the book was good. I didn’t mind the scripture, but some of it was wildly out of context, reshaped to fit the narrative. Old lady note aside, it was a good read!

In depth learning

I’ve read many books, listened to podcasts and watched YouTube in regard to gardening. This has been thus far the most in depth and informative book yet.

This book was very self explanatory and full of great details. I love it so much that I play it all over again the following day .

Experience-led, humble, and insightful author

Loved the practical guidance and that the author was not ashamed to share her faith. Gave me the confidence to pursue planting blueberries and fruit trees. Worth a second listen.

Informative

I love that it’s condensed, yet very f ull of information.

I do not like the scriptures, as I’m not religious. But they aren’t incredibly intrusive or all consuming. Her relationship with religion does not impede on her ability to share the sheer volume of information she has to give, and I am incredibly grateful for that.

The performance was really good too.

Inspirational

Melissa has awakened the inner desire from within my wife and I to become self sufficient. We have 5 mostly unused acres that can now be put to use for an enormous benefit. After watching many of Melissa’s uTube videos it became obvious of her in-depth knowledge and just how passion driven she is about home-steading. There’s so much to offer in her books and videos that I’m continually gaining an abundance of wonderful information from her material. I’m glad that I stumbled upon her uTube channel!

Good for beginners

Great starting place for those interested in gardening. Easy for beginners to digest. Enjoyable listening

Christian Religious Homesteading Mess

I really wish they were honest about the religious aspects of this book. It’s saturated in Christian scriptures which I really didn’t appreciate. The PDF is helpful in guiding a new homesteader on the expectations of how many plants you need to feed your family but the scriptures are triggering. If you have religious trauma, I would strongly suggest running the other way from this audiobook. I think books like this need to be clearly marked so the person purchasing the book can be clearly informed of it’s nature. It feels like false advertising to leave something so potentially harmful out of the description.

Religious

I just wanted the gardening info without the religion. Bible passages at the beginning of every chapter. If you've never gardened before and are Christian, this will be a great book for you. Otherwise, the info presented was very basic at best and I didn't appreciate the constant religious references.
