good story, writing can use improvement

I enjoyed the story but the dialogue writing needs improvement and the ending ignores some of the characters main concerns.

Gripping storyline and a talented narrator. Throughly enjoyed this audiobook and listening onto the next series onto the “Contracts”

Really dark black ops.

For me, this is a well written fictional Bond type assassination story. Very complex and twisted at times. The main characters are also complex but not perfect.
Kevin Kenerly only got four stars. I know pronunciation is often a regional or national in its sound. What really bothered me was this narrator used a hard G sound on all words ending in G. To wit the word "young" ending with the hard g sound.
To me very disconcerting.

Action packed book that is deeply engaging!!

Initially, I thought this book would end as quickly as I started listening to it. However, after continuing through the story it was deeply engaging and the shared spirit of King and Slater was developed excellently. I look forward to continuing this series. For all the adventurous readers out there this would be right up your alley!!

Four stars is not a bad rating I LIKED THE BOOK

In today’s world everyone thinks badly of less than five star rating. If that’s the case, why even have one two three or four stars?

I really liked them characters in the book and the narration was strong. Just a different story than I’m used to. Solid book

Good audio for a weekend trip

History is great for us that like action, suspense and that sort of thing, nothing to think just listen and laugh. I'm sorry but the performance was not something I liked, I listened for the story but the narration almost threw me off. I respect Mr Kenerly but I don't follows his tone. Off to book 2

Reminiscent of Doc Savage books

Take out the sex and vulgar expletives and the target audience would be Young Adults--teens.

The narrator is mediocre--with off-key intonation, inability to give the characters distinct voices, female voices breathy and indistinguishable in pitch from a gentle male voice, delivered in monotonous "burst-pause" phrasing. I normally listen at 1.5X which corrects for most narrators' slow delivery. But, for this book, I had to back off to 1.3X to decode the bursts--which left me waiting during the annoying inter-burst pauses.

The author seems at times to be semi-literate. For example, "decimating everybody," when anyone with a decent education at the K-12 level knows that "decimate" means to reduce by one tenth and does not mean to obliterate, annihilate, demolish, or eradicate completely. We can thank Heaven that the Romans knew the difference or there wouldn't be anyone left in most of their conquered geographies!

The "romantic" scenes and conversations are lacking in depth and motivation. Awkwardly obligatory--as if the author is checking off items required for the target genre. The sex is not "making love." It is the "rutting" of animals in heat. Maybe intentional but still poorly executed.

The difference between the author and the writer of the Doc Savage books is not that they aren't both entertaining and impossible stories about superhuman characters. It is that the Doc Savage books pay scrupulous attention to the meaning of words--possibly even challenging the young audience with phrases like, "fortuitous eventuation of circumstances."

This book, "Weapons," was free with my membership. It was both entertaining and frequently annoying. I may come back and spend credits on the sequels in the series if I run out of better options in the thriller category.

Action from start to finish

Loved this book. So much is happening all the time and at times i felt like I was in book 2 of the series because so much backstory is told that could have been a story all on its own.
The two main characters slayter and king are almost super human Alfa male war maschines. The things they last through is incredible.. but that is also part of why this action packed story works. I was super entertained and even cried a tear once or twice.

nice but skips

the story is amazing. the narrator does really well. I had uninstalled and reinstalled this many times and each time, the story skips 2 to 5 seconds and you miss a few words in each chapter.

A good story-solid characters

This was great book. Easy to listen while driving-engaging character development easy to visualize the tension on the key work done to keep the country safe. True hero’s. On to #2!
