All Diana Penn wanted was a quiet retirement. What she got was a chance to rewrite history.

When a demolition crew uncovers unexploded WWII bombs in a quiet Northumberland park, retired MI6 agent Diana Penn instantly senses danger. But before she can act, the bombs detonate.

Instead of peace, Diana wakes up in December 1944, in the body of her younger self: a Land Army girl posted in a seemingly sleepy English town. Beneath the wartime camaraderie and village gossip, predators lurk and suspicious activities hint at dangers far greater than German spies.

Armed with knowledge of the future and the instincts of a seasoned operative, Diana must race to prevent catastrophe. Because this time, dying isn't the end—it's only the beginning.

A gripping wartime thriller with a time-bending twist, The Deadly Life of Diana Penn is a powerful new addition to the acclaimed Middle Falls universe.

I mostly enjoyed it, it's not my favorite and I did not like it as much as the original series by far... I have to tell you I'm not a big female narration fan. Does that make me a female chauvinist?...maybe 😉 But, love to hear the English do narration for anything, female or male doesn't matter to me. This book reminded me a little bit of Kate Atkinson's Life after Life. It didn't wrap around itself quite as much as Kate's work does ( and her writing is amazing in every way), or even some of the original middle falls books.. but I thought it was okay. It'll be interesting to see where this series goes in the next few books. If I'm completely honest, there was a few times I turned it off. I found my mind wandering as the book seemed to meander at times. A lot of details of things that we had already seen. And I found myself not truly caring about any of the characters too much except for the older characters and the Ellen character ironically that we never heard from her again. I thought it was going to be more of a mystery which would have been really neat to see it solve through Time. But we never found out even what happened to her so that was extremely disappointing. I do like the ending more than I thought I would... I'm just left going, eh, next. And I hate that because I usually love the Middle Fall books

I'm no so sure about this one.....

Think Shawn Inmon's Middle Falls Series, but locate it in the UK! I can't wait for the next in the series to be released!

I absolutely loved it!

If I didn't have faith (sometimes misplaced) in Inmon to pull it off in the end, I probably would have stopped listening because I was a tad bored. (Currently listening to his latest "Death by Podcast," which features the worst Maine accent I've ever heard--thought is was a bad English accent until I realized where the story took place, and is super boring even 3 hours in.) But I kept listening, Quirk is always a great audio performer and I began get interested in the story and care about the characters.

I liked having a new setting and a time period Inmon doesn't usually tackle. I see now he has a co-author on this one so maybe she has something to do with it.

Very slow start but I liked it in the end

it took me a lot longer to get into this book than most of the other ones, but by the end I was completely hooked.
