As for this book and series as a whole, don't expect the most in-depth plot or characters, but at least for me, that didn't take away from my level of enjoyment in the slightest. The magic system is a little underdeveloped, which leaves you wondering why someone allows themselves to be majorly inconvenienced when the clear and present solution is used in the very next example of the same problem (I'm looking at you, communications rings). But I don't want to make it sound like I'm trying to deter readers; my point is that these minor flaws are just that- minor, and that the overall story, action sequences, character developments, and beautifully written expositions are well worth some minor oversights.
Love this series and can't wait for more.

The first 5 books were a lot of fun to read and a really good story. Some new twists to the fantasy genre to keep it fresh. As a 5 book series, this was well worth the read. For a 6th book..... well, see my review of that book.
Minor add to this: Book 5 was starting to feel a little worn but it was still a good read.
Really fun read!
