Great book

Wonderful story that introduces us to a world that promises to be complex and beautifully written about. It draws you in and keeps you interested until the very end. The narrator really brings the story to life.

I am half tempted to add in baking phrases and food adjectives in my review after listening to this. But, Flame it, I'll hold back a bit.

-what I liked-
Firstly enjoyed the confection background of the story how every day things like food, clothes etccan have greater purpose to serve than just being used for survival.

I loved the mystery aspect of the story and how the story managed to keep up the intrigue by introducing new suspects and at the same time hurtling new obstacles in Wrens path. It made me wonder will our MC with limited knowledge and power be able to get out of this web of conspiracy.

The characters and their characterizations made this book a whole more worthwhile, Wren with her suspicious instinct with her yearning for love and belonging slipping through, and her friends open minded, supportive and head strong.
No one is as they seem, sweet may turn bitter and vice versa and her worst adversary may not be that at all...they were deeply layered personality with surprises.

I appreciated how after some of Wren's trust backfired she didn't go back in blindly forgiving everything, but was wary and accepting as she should.

_the meh bit_
I found the relationship with Lucas, progressing too fast and was rushed or maybe it was intended to make it see her feelings were because he was her knight in shining Armour?
To me, one bit of the clues made it very obvious who it was the motive too, nevertheless I still like how it resolved at the end and... It wasnt a straight cut one mind you!

Awesomely Good!

I honestly loved this book! It had all the elements I need to keep me hooked: action, magic, murder, mystery, romance, refreshingly unique plot, amazing world building! Let's not forget that the characters are easily relatable, as well as being perfectly flawed and nuanced in layers. The narrator was also perfect for this book--in character voices, etc. I am definitely continuing on with this series! Highly recommend.

Sweet Mystery

I was quickly taken in by this face pace intriguing story! The narration was flawless and very enjoyable! A wonderful creative world of magic and a Kingdom struggling for power of the people! There's pages filled with blooming romances,adventure, and mystery!

OMG Cupcakes!

I'm not going to lie, the cover was what attracted me first to this book. Then I quickly realized it was all about cupcakes, magic and mystery. I was all in.

This was such a great listen. Kelsey Navarro is one of female narrators that I like listening to. She gave Wren's adventure life!
The story was full of well, cupcakes and the twists and turns and kept me guessing. The characters were great too. It's my first Luana book but now I want the second book as well.

Wow! Loved this story! What would it be like to be accused of murder! Twist and turns,will the truth come out before it's too late! Narrator makes the story come alive!

Loved it!!

Pleasantly surprised at how well the concept of cupcakes worked with this book!! I knew knowing the author this would be a good book but I wasn’t sure how the baking or even cupcakes would come to play and I must say that I absolutely enjoyed the story. It has fabulous world building that I thoroughly enjoyed and the main character, Wren. Gosh, I just love her!!
There is a bit of everything on this book. A hint of romance, Magic, baking, murder, and mystery. Loved it!!

I listened to the audiobook and I highly recommend. The narrator Kelsey Navarro truly brought the story alive for me.

A Sweet Read!

Summary:
Wren’s life working at a bakery, but she loved making sweet treats. That is until the day she was taken to the Confectioner’s Guild where she learned that her abilities to create beautiful treats were also infused with magic. Joining the guild came with the unknown price of secrecy, but when the Guild head feel down dead Wren’s life went from bad to worse. The only thing that saved Wren form the block was the inspector who was willing to vouch for her. Things at the guilds are not what they seem on the surface leaving Wren to try and build a new life while she gains allies while trying to prove her innocence.

This was a fascinating and complex story when you never really know who is friend or foe. There was more to the inspector’s willingness to help Wren than she ever thought. The conflicts within the guilds, the crown, and the danger from outside countries keeps the reader waiting to see what will happen next.

The Audio-book version brought each character alive in ways that go beyond just reading the story. I will be waiting to see what happens next in The Confectioner’s Chronicles series.

Fun Adventure

I am going to admit I first wanted to read teh book because of teh cover. It's beautiful and reminds me of another series I read. I was hoping this would be a fun adventure.
Wren is known for her beautiful cupcakes which is a good reputation till some or is poisoned by one. Wren must save her self while learning the truth about magic.
It was a fun adventure. I really liked Wren. She has to try determination and grit. She wasn't just some damsel in distress.
The mystery is intriguing and keeps you moving through the book. It's is intriguing and teh answer sin;t blatant which makes the reveal exciting.
The narration worked well for teh story and UI enjoyed listening to the audiobook.
I would absolutely recommend this book.
