Resumen del Editor

Acclaimed for her moving depictions of interracial love, best-selling author Sandra Kitt delivers a passionate and provocative tale of modern romance.

An artist trapped in an unfulfilling relationship, Leah Downey wants more out of life. But she plays it safe, never venturing too far from her comfort zone... not since the night she was mugged at knifepoint. Beginning a relationship with a perfect stranger is completely out of character for Leah. But something about Jason Horn strikes a chord deep within her. They couldn’t be more different. Jason is white, a streetwise New York cop haunted by his own demons. He’s stunned by his instant attraction to this vibrant black woman who arouses both desire and his fiercest protective instincts.

LOVE HAS NO COLOR!

This was a pleasant story based in my hometown of New York City. they come from very different backgrounds. there are an interracial couple in New York City which shouldn't be a problem.he's a cop and all of the racial tensions in the city between cops the public start to interfere with there relationship. The narrator sounds pleasant.

The Color of Love

This is a really good mature read, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This author, Ms. Kitt, wrote such a sensitive tale about 'forbidden' romance between two persons not only from different ethnic backgrounds, but particularly between two ethnicity which in America have a long standing history of bigotry and hatred, additionally between a black civilian and a cop. Again the latter has a long and bitter history in the United States.

The story touches on a number of real issues such as the fear and suspicion and distrust in the black community towards the police, as well as the fraternity of brotherhood within the police force and the challenges of relationships that cross racial and society's boundaries. The characters were well developed, especially the main protagonists and some of the supporting characters; they were very realistic and the manner in which they dealt with the challenges were believable. I'm talking about the very real feel of such scenarios as: the rejection by Leah's family of her relationship with Jason, the reaction of certain police at the Precint who were against the interracial relationship, Jason's own bad habits when dealing with black perpetrators, the reaction of Jason and Leah's close friends, many many scenes that were so realistic about black-white relationships.

I think it was good that the writer tried to show that even within the police force there were some good cops, like Jason, who tried to make a difference and help the youth who had a chance at turning their lives around. This is a positive point in that it shows there is another side to the police/black community drama. The narrator, Angela Starling was excellent!

I also liked that the heroine was educated, smart and successful, a good portrayal a black women in society and why not?
Likewise, I liked that Jason was mature, confident, sincere, didn't waste time in stating what he wanted and had a kind heart. These two people were well matched in my opinion.

What I did not like was Leah's insecurities, and her submissiveness to her sister Gail. At one point I also got tired of Leah's second guessing her relationship with Jason, even though I understand it. Kudos to Jason for being persistent in his courtship of Leah. I also thought that more editing needed to be done, because the writing was choppy in places because it did not flow in terms of going from one scene to the next, so the timeline, flow and rhythm was disruptive in some parts for me.

My final thoughts that I got from this story are that people are complex and love is color blind, therefore such love can develop and flourish in the most unlikely circumstances between the most unlikely persons and be successful.

I would recommend this book, and also look to see what else this author has written. Her insight, and talent for portraying the hearts of her characters is amazing. Well done.

Oh my goodness ...Tear Jerker

This book was so very good I can't even explain. I'm in tears right now. As a black women married happily to a white male this just touched my heart.
It is so very nice to read a story about a subject so close to my heart.
This read was hard from a racial stand and must have been set in the late eighties or early nineties based on the references of the Vietnam War.
So I imagine things were slightly harder for interracial couples. But the fundamental issues are still there and I love overcomes and remains colorblind

Good

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this author didn't use God's name in vain. You don't have to use " GD " to have a good book. I would have given it 5 stars if not for that. I didn't like how Leah let her sister and Allen basically run over her with their betrayal. What year was it 1920-1940's? For Leah and Jason to face all the prejudices with being an interracial couple. That part of the story threw me for a loop. I thought the author went a bit to much on that and how Leah was treated by her sister. I wish this book was a movie.

narrator ok

I have the paperback of this book, I have loved this story for years once I saw it was available on here I quickly got it, the narrator was ok that's the only issue I had, I appreciate the attempt at different voices for each character but it was slightly weird I can't explain why lol. But she perfectly captured the sister's voice Gail who every time I heard I instantly disliked 🤣🤣 not sure if that was what she was going for but it worked either way. overall the story is always one I've loved. glad I found it just wish there could have been 2 actors one yo do the male roles especially since there were so many men in this story is the only issue I had.

eh

story was so drawn out about nothing. the love scenes were boring. the lead character was such a pushover. she had no voice. they couple was so extra with the interracial emotional drama with one another for what I would say we're minor issues, at least for the woman. you would think she was threatened or something based on how dramatic she was about the racial issues.

Leah.....

Leah was weak willed and a complete doormat with her convincing self centered sister and ex. I can not imagine anyone woman, I personally know who would still be living in the same home with her sister and taking advice from said sister.

I am completely flabbergasted with the relationship between Leah and Gail. The fight and anger she showed Jason, should have been same fight she provided her sister and ex. The sheer fact that they can openly be involved in front of her truly taints this romance for me

I do like the realistic nature of adults dating. I was angry with how Jason pulled away but it is realistic.

Wow!

This was an absolutely awesome story. The story makes you look at your own prejudices and think twice about what you say, do, and how you believe.

A Little Outdated But An Excellent Read

"The Color of Love" was written before dating and marriage between Black women and White men were a common occurrence. This well written book explores, with tenderness, the complexities involved in the evolution of the relationship between Leah and Jason.

I have read most of Ms. Kitt's books but this is her best. I wish she would write more.
Unlike the majority of the romance books written on this topic, it is not soft porn. This is an excellent love story written by a creative and intelligent writer. It is well work the READ and the Listen.
