Resumen del Editor

A cloud of suspicion...

From all appearances Cruz Martinez is one of the good guys. A decorated Philadelphia detective with an impressive attaboy file, he's on the fast track for promotion. And with that rock-hard body and killer smile, he's a difficult man to say no to. But Madeline Casey is prepared to do just that.

Someone is arming the youth gangs in the city, and Madeline is partnered with Cruz on the case. But Internal Affairs thinks Cruz might be involved with the supplier. It's Madeline's job to discover the truth. She knows better than to trust instincts over evidence. But late night stakeouts have her judgment clouding. Is Cruz really innocent, or will that killer smile prove lethal?

Good read..

I don’t think I’d like to read another book on Internal Affairs. Cruz spends his time desiring Madeline and Madeline spends her time suspecting Cruz of selling illegal arms, and reporting to her supervisor. Almost the entire book was like that, even after they slept together. She was always finding ways she thought he lived beyond his means, his expensive sports car, his expensive boots, buying his apartment and renovating it, paying for his brother and sister’s collage education, but never just said, “how can you afford this on a cop’s salary?” She never even thought about asking. I didn’t understand that at all.

As for her father? What an absolute A-hole he was. For someone who was just on the City Council he thought he was really something. Even the narrator made him sound like a stuffy jerk.

Overall, this was a good story. It was interesting to go along with Cruz and Maddy while they tried to figure out who the arms dealers were. But I could have done with a little less suspicion on Maddy’s part.

There were a couple of explicit sex scenes in this story and a little swearing, not so much to worry about.

As to the narration: Again Ms. Marlo did a great job. Men sounded like men. What more do you need from a female narrator?

Great spinoff of McLain's Law

I loved this one even more than the first. Cruz is a charmer! Lots of conflict and sexual tension.
