Best-selling author Sandra Kitt’s novel of interracial love and friendship.
Born to a white mother and an African-American father, Dallas Oliver has always felt like an outsider. Life gets more complicated when her mother dies and she moves in with her father and stepmother. The one saving grace is Dallas' unexpected friendship with a white girl named Valerie Holland. Decades later, they're still best friends. Dallas is a journalist for a controversial magazine and Valerie is a single mother. But their bond will be tested when they fall in love with the same man. Ex-Navy SEAL Alex Marco and Dallas both have histories shadowed by violence. But Alex is also haunted by his own tragedy. Narrated from the alternating perspectives of Dallas, Valerie, and Alex, Between Friends is a sensual, unforgettable story about friendship, secrets, and a love that transcends barriers.

I would have liked to heard if her mother's family contacted her back even though she said it would be fine if they didn't. I would have liked to known what Megan wanted with her at the end of the story.
I would have liked to known if Alex was going to propose when Megan interrupted them at the end of the story or if he wanted her to say she loved him back.
I didn't like how her parents made her feel in the beginning of the book, but in the end it was a little better. I didn't like that Lilly and Vin didn't know what Nick tried to do to her and how he called her nasty names. Val should have known as well. I was hoping Lilly knew something when she asked her to help clean out Nick's items. I was hoping she would think that getting rid of his stuff would put closure to what happened in the past.
I think that Megan and Nick's son should have met at the end. Since, Ross thought that Megan could be Dallas' daughter was Nick's father black and was that the reason his mother gave him up? Something to think about eventhough they were Italian, but maybe Dallas' mother was part Italian who knows.
Great
