Besides loving all Peter Grainger's books-I can't imagine them without Gildart Jackson's superb narration. The pair of them make every one of Grainger's books first rate.
Grainger's new life for retired DC works beautifully and we listeners are the richer for it.

I so enjoyed this series, and to be honest, I would be hard-pressed to say if it’s the writing I enjoy the most, or Gildart Jackson’s performance. Both are truly exceptional, and I am certainly hopeful of a new book in the near term. I can’t imagine anyone doing justice to DC’s personality the way Gildart Jackson does.

A person’s life changes in retirement & I think that Mr. Grainger illustrates that with DC Smith’s attention to coffee, tea & birds, but he’s still got that drive to tie up the loose ends. I want more!!!

How can I say something new…?

This book is exactly what Peter Grainger and DC Smith devotees have become addicted to. More than many fiction writers, Mr. Grainger creates characters who are distinctive and whom I clearly “see” while listening. They are NEVER boring and have the human imperfections that simply make them more believable. The story itself is excellent, kept my interest up, and had me puzzling about how the various situations were going to be resolved. We fans have waited a long time for this DC Smith book and I hope the wait for next one will be shorter. Oh! Once again, Gildart Jackson IS Smith…as well as all the other characters. The voices truly fit them in speech and expression. I never had to wonder who was speaking. I’d pay TWO credits for a Peter Grainger book.

First rate story, characters and narration

Another excellent story by Peter Grainger . I’m enjoying the development of DC Smith’s new role as a private investigator. Gildart Jackson’s narration is pitch-perfect. I hope the DC Smith series will continue along with the new (and also excellent) Willows and Lane.

How do they keep getting better?!

This series is thoughtful and well written, drawing you in with believable, interesting characters that you develop a true fondness for and respect of—and this is due to the incredible writing as well as incomparable narration. These stories are so good, they are the first (and only) audiobooks I’ve gifted to multiple people. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just as good as I hoped it would be!

It was a good storyline, with a perfect narrator! I hated to hear it end! I've listened to them all, and I'm sad knowing there's not another waiting in my library!
