"Narrator Rosalie Craig is especially adept at providing varying voices to assist the listener in identifying characters."–AudioFile Magazine

This program is read by London Evening Standard Award-winning actor Rosalie Craig, who also plays Virginia in Netflix's 1899.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Whisper Man and The Shadows comes a dark, suspenseful new thriller about the mysteries of fate, the unbreakable bond of siblings, and a notorious serial killer who was said to know the future.

Growing up in a beautiful house in the English countryside, Katie Shaw lived a charmed life. At the cusp of graduation, she had big dreams, a devoted boyfriend, and a little brother she protected fiercely. Until the day a violent stranger changed the fate of her family forever.

Years later, still unable to live down the guilt surrounding what happened to her brother, Chris, and now with a child of her own to protect, Katie struggles to separate the real threats from the imagined. Then she gets the phone call: Chris has gone missing and needs his big sister once more.

Meanwhile, Detective Laurence Page is facing a particularly gruesome crime. A distinguished professor of fate and free will has been brutally murdered just hours after firing his staff. All the leads point back to two old cases: the gruesome attack on teenager Christopher Shaw, and the despicable crimes of a notorious serial killer who, legend had it, could see the future.

Great Story! Superb Narrator!

A lot of moving parts, but worth it. Listening on Audible, I had a bit of trouble following the story at times w all of the different players and places in time, mixed w the narrator’s accent. But the book has cool twists and ends nicely.

He’s done it again! Absolutely loved this book. Some of the information can be hard to follow at times, but if you stick with it to the end and look back, you’ll see an amazingly detailed story that was hinted at from moment one. Everything is connected under the surface! Can’t wait to see what comes next!

Masterful!

"The Angel Maker: A Novel" is a captivating and darkly atmospheric tale that delves into the realms of science, morality, and the human psyche. The story revolves around complex characters and their moral dilemmas, which adds depth to the narrative.

The author's writing style is engaging and immersive, making it easy to become engrossed in the story. The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. However, at times, the pacing can be a bit uneven, and some subplots may leave you wanting more development.

Overall, "The Angel Maker" is a thought-provoking and unique read that explores the boundaries of science and ethics, making it a worthwhile choice for those who enjoy morally ambiguous narratives with a touch of the macabre.

someone else mentioned this, but I'm going to echo it. I've really enjoyed this authors others works so I was excited to get into this. the story premise was interesting, but felt a little rushed and like there were things missing. the whole story felt like it should have been at least a couple hours longer so you could get a better sense of everything/all the characters. and the constant switching back and forth between characters first and last names made it kinda hard to follow. overall it was fine, but I hope his next work will be more flushed out like his previous books.

Felt incomplete

Awestruck!

I was looking forward to another good, dark read from this writer; however, this story felt short and unsubstantial for a plot that was so complicated. The characters and timelines were difficult to keep straight. It really took its time getting set up, then was a race to the finish in the final hour to wrap everything up.

Felt Incomplete

It was very well written and had a very interesting story but two things I can mention here that kind of killed it for me:

The timeline jumped around A LOT and very early.

The story felt rushed at the end and felt like it wasn't explained very well.

The characters were excellent and the plot was awesome, but it definitely needed more love, more depth. I'd still recommend this as Alex North is a great writer, but his first two are definitely a better vibe than this.

Well...

It was technically well written but unnecessarily complicated. Characters change names in the story and the author will vary referring to them by first name or last name even within the same paragraph and it makes it very difficult to follow who they are talking about/to. You're also rarely sure about what time frame the action is occurring in and it's hard to hold the narrative when it's jumping around like that. Overall, I spent 90% of the book unclear on what was happening and why only to have it all resolved in the last 15 minutes. It's a neat trick but not worth the frustration to get there.
