Resumen del Editor

New York isn't ready for Britain's most dangerous ex-assassin....

John Milton has finally found a place to escape the bloodshed: off-season Coney Island. No tourists. No special ops. Just peace and quiet. But when a local boy witnesses a grisly murder, Milton can't resist investigating.

Milton uncovers a vicious drug kingpin and a group of crooked cops from a notorious precinct known as The Alamo. Against such dangerous foes, Milton's quest for redemption could come to an end.

The 11th book in the USA Today best-selling John Milton series delivers thrills, action and twists you just won't see coming.

John Milton strikes again!

Another great installment of the JM series. Love the diversity of the locations in these books. New York accents of the narrator sometimes made me cringe, but he's getting better. Highly recommend this series.

Drug lords, Mafia, crooked cops, and Balkan bada$$

This is The Witness, John Milton style. Even though the plot is nearly identical, the story is still great, full of quietly lethal John Milton justice.

There is no parallel to the Texas Alamo; it is merely the unexplained nickname for the toughest NY precinct. Through some coincidences, Milton decides to becomes involved with the kid who witnessed the bad cops murder someone who could have fingered them. As usual, Milton is mild-mannered and reasonable until violence is all that's left. It is bittersweet as Milton's introspection concludes that he can never have a family, never have friends, and must always keep moving. All he can do is attempt to complete The Ninth Step.

As usual, David Thorpe is great, although he makes some pronunciation errors trying to sound like a New York cop. We can forgive him for that.

Another masterfully crafted John Milton thriller

Mark Dawson has written another engaging John Milton thriller. The accuracy of information Dawson delivers in his stories proves his skills in research and his ability to weave it all into a beautiful story-fabric design. Unlike others, who write tech or travel or physiological data inserts among their storylines and plots, Dawson’s style keeps his reader’s focus on the story. I've not once stopped mid-Dawson story to check his facts—the story is what matters to me as a reader of a Dawson book, and appears to be what matters most to Dawson. The narrator of the Milton stories, David Thorpe, creates John Milton’s persona wonderfully. He keeps the story in the forefront through skilled truthful performance. I’m looking forward to Mark Dawson’s next Milton story, Redeemer.

May be Dawson's best John Milton novel!

I enjoyed this suspense thriller. The setting is New Your City rather than San Antono as the title seems to suggest. Milton is working as a cook at a restaurant and going faithfully to his AA meetings while using his John Smith alias. He is living in Coney Island in the winter. First he saves a young woman who is drowning due to a rip current at the beach. He also befriends a man at AA who has a 13 year old son. On the way home from a Giants-Cowboys game at the Meadowlands stadium the boy witnesses a murder. Milton cannot resist trying to help solve the murder. The girl's and the boy's families play a major part in this fascinating, complex, and suspenseful novel. There are some nice plot twists along the way.

What I like most about The Alamo is that Milton solves the case by following the leads and without any superman-like heroic tactics. The Alamo is Book 11 in author Mark Dawson's John Milton series. Milton continues to deal with his daemons of alcoholism and his long past killings with a British espionage agency. Author Dawson shows maturity as a writer as he writes about a more multi faceted/complex John Milton than in his earlier novels. The Alamo is a great story well told. I'm still not a fan of narrator David Thorpe, but he does an excellent job with this novel.

The Alamo has my unqualified highest possible recommendation.

Finally, do not use an Audible credit for this book. Purchased at Amazon using Whispersync for Voice the total cost of the Kindle and Audible versions combined is $6.98 which is between $2.58 and $7.97 less than an Audible credit depending upon which Audible membership you have.

Another good Milton story

Really enjoyable read, good storyline and plenty of action again. Love this character and enjoy his development of a conscience as the books go on. Accents by the narrator can be a bit ropey at times and the American drawl was a bit rough but doesn't detract from the story at all. recommended to anyone that enjoys a good read.
