what the others review said about being shallow...

It started out fine like any other fantasy story about a special MC...but then it got worse, cheesey and artificial. The book begins to read like a toddler's bedtime story instead of the epic adventure it's supposed to be, and the narrator made it even worse by OVERLY dramatizing EVERY sentence to the point of satire....no, just ...no.

Save your money.

This audiobook deserves a zero-star rating. I tried listening to the story several times but couldn't get attached to anything or anyone in it. I finally decided to use it as a sleep aid, which worked perfectly.

Shallow Storytelling with Missed Potential

This has no world-building, no relationship development, and no explanation of the magic system—it’s all just implied. It’s full of repetitiveness and for book this short that’s not good. Looking at this author’s other publications, it makes sense that they’re self-published because no reputable publisher would accept this. It’s barely good enough for Royal Road. The author has a lot of work to do in developing their craft, and choosing a title that leans on the popularity of anime only makes it feel even more exploitative.

It could have potential.

I can't say it's the worst book I've listened to but it's pretty bad. I wish I had read the other reviews first because most of them are spot on. It's very shallow with no world building, people constantly repeating the exact same thing as the mains internal monolog. It might just be that it lost my interest early on but it also seems like it doesn't really give any idea of actual time tracking. It just seems like an epic adventure written for an elementary school kid. The narrator says every single line like it's a great event and this is just a personal dislike but the reverberation of internal communication is tacky.

Well written and narrated.

The depth of the story felt lacking. The power scaling was also weak. Story might have been good if it had more chapters to create more bond with the characters.
