Resumen del Editor

Face-to-face with the woman who jilted him, Colin O'Brien tells himself he's over her. What the charming rancher doesn't know is that the man Melissa Roark Rancic married has forced her - and her infant daughter - to live a charade of love. And now, about to testify to his criminal deeds, she's shaken by rekindled feelings for Colin and scared that he'll discover her child is his. Though angry, Colin vows to protect Melissa from her vengeful ex...while safeguarding his own heart. But once he steps up, he can't step away. No danger can keep Colin from the woman he never stopped loving.

Great read/listen!

Such a good story. The main characters are Colin and Melissa.

A year has passed since a rich man who had blown into town seemingly swept Melissa off her feet, causing her to break Colin's heart when she broke off their engagement. Now, she's on the run with her three month old daughter and the only place she has left to turn is to the only man she's ever loved. But, with Colin being so close to her and her daughter, She's not sure she'll be able to keep her most guarded secret, the fact that Angelina is really Colin's daughter, under wraps.

Colin has spent the last year building a wall of stone around his heart to protect it from ever being vulnerable to the kind of pain he felt when Melissa left him. Now he's dealing with a whole new kind of pain. Melissa has a child, a child she said she didn't want to have with him. He's determined to help if only to find the closure he needs to truly move on with his life. But, with just one glimpse of the little cherub face of Angelina, Colin instantly knows that a clean break is never going to be possible again.

Together that go on the run, trying to avoid her soon-to-be ex-husband, the criminal who is wanted by the authorities for multiple crimes, including the murder of a U.S. Marshal and the shooting of the town Sheriff, the family's closest friend, Tommy. With their trust in each other, and the help of the O'Brien clan, they are ready for the fight that is sure to come.

Barb Han has once again created a story with fantastic, relatable character and a story that kept me engaged from the word go. I first read the paperback version of this story and today I began listening to the audiobook. Well done to the author and the narrator. I'm looking forward to reading & listening to the next book, Texas Showdown!
