The mission should have been a few simple weeks exploring uninhabited wilderness. But now Tristan is stuck in a land filled with wild women, exotic magic, and dark dangers.

His beautiful commander - his only way back, and the only person who has any faith in him - has caught the eye of a freakish crime lord backed by a shadowy cult. Tristan has his own magic, but to save them both, he'll need to confront his doubts and bind willing women brandishing destructive fallen powers. If Tristan succeeds, will he even want to return? It's a question as unsettling as his enemy, and one he can only answer after defeating the rising tide of foes.

To win he will need to do more than ride a bound storm - he has to unleash its fury himself.

Contains some graphic violence and explicit harem relationships. Only vanquished foes fade to black.

Good character development, the world is interesting and drags you in. Pacing is tolerable, I usually prefer more of a slow-burn buildup, but this wasn’t terrible. Overall definitely worth checking out, I’ll definitely be getting the next one.

One of the better additions to the genre.

I'm back from finishing the last of the four books in the series. As audio harem lit goes, this is roughly in the 4-4.5 star range. If you're a genre regular, you'll probably find things to like here.

On the writing side: There's a fair amount of interesting and fairly unique world building going on, and that aspect is excellent. The relationships move a bit fast for my taste, but it's done in such a way that I don't object to it too much. There's enough character depth that even many of the side characters manage to avoid feeling like throwaway caricatures. The main character can be an absolute idiot at times, but it comes off more as a character flaw than bad writing, which is good. No, this isn't on par with e.g. Brandon Sanderson, but that's typical of the genre. Sex is VERY present, so keep that in mind if you're a less-is-more person.

In most respects the narration is very good. Character voices are decent to great, and there's nothing wrong with her normal narrator voice (no weird inflections, nothing grating, etc). There are, however, a few issues that really annoyed me. First, she talks too fast; I listened to all four of these at 0.85 speed, where I usually listen in the 1-1.2 range for most books. Second, there are some extremely poorly balanced sections where the volume goes all over the place and headphones are basically mandatory to catch everything. But by far the worst bit was mispronunciations; a ship's bow is bow like the gesture, not bow like the weapon; I've never before heard anyone pronounce flotilla as flow-TEE-ya (this is English, not Spanish); the Aeolian Corp/Corps is 'core', not 'corp'; the list goes on. Many of the problem words are military-related, sure, but several of those show up very regularly, and it's literally her job to read... Look the word up for crying out loud. It's a shame because I really liked her for the most part.

At any rate, for the genre, roughly 4.5 for story, 3.5 for narration, call it 4 overall. There's a distinct possibility that I'll listen to these again at some point.

Good overall

On my second listen, I have to admit how good this series is. Great relationships, interactions, pacing characters, world building and even progression/magic system. This story really has no negatives, and is voiced really well by the narrator Vanessa.

All in all, I highly recommend.

In my top ten in harem lit

Overall, this is a decent book. The storyline and plot are interesting. There were times where the story skipped pass sections that would’ve been vital information for the reader. The relationship building could’ve been done a little slower. The narrator wasn’t bad, but I would like to see more range with the voices of her characters.

Interesting storyline

Yes the first book is decent, but then it goes downhill fast, i jumped ship by book three where the story and characters truly lost all resemblance of something worth listening too.

Dont get roped in by a good first book

So to just list my complaints. This guy who for the first hour is only described as a drunk is only drinking because he has powers which is rare in the world and is forced to join the military. And he's not drinking because he's fallen on hard times he's drinking because he doesn't want to be there and is trying to escape by drinking himself to death? WHAT?????

And for some guy who has all this training over the years and powers is such a damn beta male with all this angsty teen romance. Blushing at each other all the time getting embarrassed and looking away even after saying they were encouraged to Fight and Fuck all the time. (let's get started with that seeing how these guys are what now late teens early 20's and it's been years so this happened while they're minors)

And as I said before isn't bad but stories like this give the genre a bad reputation. Like really? This guy's companions get kidnapped and all we get to know how information is that he's horny all the time?this guy gets held at knife point and his first reaction is his dick gets hard? And also with that scene if this chick power is diverged from shadows why the fuck did she deliberately move Away from them and go into the light?

With some guy with all this military training and supposedly having power that makes him be at the peak of human evolution or some shit he has no situation awareness and acts like he's seen a horny teenager who discovered porn for the first time.

I won't be continuing the series too much dumb. Just write a sex novel if this is the limit of your writing

Harem isn't bad but stories like this are.
