Each of the temples situated in South India has got its own speciality among which the temple of lord sri Venkateshwara swamy in Tirupati tirumala is one of those. Tirupati is one of the famous and holiest places of pilgrimage in India. It is situated in the city named Chittoor of the state Andhra Pradesh. Every year lacs of people visit Tirupati in order to take the darshana or view of the presiding deity of the place Tirupati who is none other than Lord Sri Venkateshwara Swamy.

Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is one of the incarnations of Lord Sri Vishnu. It is believed that, his incarnation happened in order to remove afflictions of the people and his devotees. Therefore, Tirupati is called “Kaliyuga’s vaikunta”. Devotees call this temple of Lord sri Venkateshwara as the temple of Seven Hills.

This temple is the richest among its counterparts in the whole world. According to the puranas, the idol of Lord Sri Venkateshwara which is situated at Tirupati is carved out of a stone named Saligrama.
