Excellent sequel

Stay in the Light by A.M. Shine is an atmospheric and gripping continuation of a dark fairytale that began with The Watchers. The story picks up seamlessly and expands the eerie, shadowy world with even more depth, suspense, and intrigue. I was completely absorbed from start to finish.

The narration is excellent—the voice acting brings the characters to life in such a vivid, emotional way. The pacing, tone, and delivery perfectly complement the tension and mystery of the plot. It truly felt like I was stepping into a haunted forest, where every rustle and whisper mattered.

If you loved the unsettling magic and folklore of the first book, you won’t be disappointed. This sequel delivers a satisfying and imaginative storyline that keeps you guessing and stays true to its dark fairytale roots.

Highly recommend the Audible version for anyone who enjoys immersive storytelling and top-tier narration!

fabulous sequel

I had been a bit hesitant to pick up the long awaited sequel to The Watchers due to weak reviews, but ended up not being able to put this one down once it began. it changed its horror type from the subtle creepy ssolitude to more of an action escape horror. even so I vastly enjoyed it. not certain why others would dislike other than the change in pace and tone. I certainly would be up for a 3rd.

I liked the exploration of the subterranean tunnels and the way all of it was described. Deep and dark and terrifying!

Very good sequel to The Watchers

I am a big fan of The Watchers and was delighted when a sequel came out. I had a little trouble getting into it but once I did I enjoyed it. It was terrifying and suspenseful, but not quite to the same degree as The Watchers. Well worth a read,

Incredible Sequel—If You Loved the 1st one, You’ll love this!

This is one incredible sequel and it has stayed with me since the second I finished it…. 🫣 Please, Mr. Shine, write a third book!!! I’m begging you!

There’s one review that says “Where is the Horror” or something like it; while I can understand where that thought is coming from, I think there’s plenty of scary moments/themes to warrant the HORROR GENRE. In my opinion, the first book is more of a horror novel, but this one just blasts you in the gut with insanity from the changelings, referred mainly as The Watchers in the first book obviously.

In my review of the first book, I mention that, if you want a better story about the si, sidhè, fae, fairies, changelings, or whatever you want to call them, Peadar Òguilin’s duology (THE CALL and THE INVASION) is a lot better; It’s more terrifying and, when comparing the stories of first book and Peadar’s duology, it does have a much wider scope. All of that being said, AM Shine took this new story and broke the single locale of the first book and made the entire country of Ireland a huge part of the book. Although I can see this book having the biggest cliffhanger in the history of cliffhangers, I think Shine would do well to keep this story going. I REALLY want to see this story continue—I want to say a word to describe a part of the book, but it would give away too much, so I won’t.

Honestly, if you enjoyed THE WATCHERS, you will love STAY IN THE LIGHT. It’s different, but it is not even close to a betrayal of the original, which happens all the time with sequels. I give the overall story an A- and the narrator definitely deserves an A for her performance in both books! She is such an amazing talent!

Book one was amazing and I honestly didn’t know how this author could create a series from it… But with book 2, I see that she went there and she did that and that this series is about to be absolutely insane in the best way.

If you’re looking for a book with “realistic” fairies in it then this is the one for you. These fairies are terrifying and what nightmares are made of. After the cliffhanger that this one ends on… Just like the last one I literally cannot wait for more to come!!
