She is mute and nameless, but she's all he can afford. He names her Jenny. It quickly becomes apparent that Jenny will change life on the Cocodrie as much as it changes her. The winds of ambition are blowing everywhere, both among the whites, who strive for wealth and status, and among the slaves, who yearn for freedom. But dangers are everywhere, too. As madness and treachery reach from Natchez to the Cocodrie to blast all their dreams, Cornelius struggles to find a way to salvage his life and the lives of Jenny and Malachi as well.

Virtual voice ruined the game

Too many misplaced emotions and mispronounced terms. Voice inflection fails to represent characters, gender and circumstance. Really poor communication of the story.

The story plot

Did not like that it was narrated by AI. It give the story no emotion or feeling

The AI reader/computer generated

The story was decent, but eventually the computer generated audio began to get irritating. Often the emphasis was on the wrong words. It was at times ok. But more often than not sounded like random words strung together. I highly recommend the author pay a human to create the audio.

The story teller could not engage me

The performance and the voice was awful. I finish listening but did not like it.

The virtual reading voice is out of synch with every part of the story and a travesty to reading aloud.

Long and Boring - no real plot

I did not like this book. It was really slow going, and I just kept waiting for there to really be a plot. There wasn’t one and by the end of it I was just glad to be done. The AI reader was really noticeably a computer. Overall, a huge disappointment.
