When Southern California radio deejay Desiree Germain hosts a contest on the air, she is immediately taken by the smooth, deeply masculine voice of caller number twelve, Kyle Harrison. Later that afternoon, the man behind the voice walks into her studio, and Desiree is instantly smitten. Kyle Harrison is not only devastatingly handsome, he is a brilliant, extremely wealthy entrepreneur from Seattle who is used to getting what he wants. Desiree can't help her attraction to Kyle - and if the intense way he looks at her and keeps delaying his flight back to Seattle is any indication, it seems her feelings are more than reciprocated. They embark on a thrilling, passionate love affair that plays havoc with the life Desiree has struggled so hard to carefully control. With a divorce under her belt and her career finally going places, she is concerned that their whirlwind romance is doomed to long-distance failure.

It might take a Maserati, dozens of red roses, and a lot of airplane tickets, but Kyle is determined to sweep Desiree off her feet and claim her as his own - forever. Can Kyle convince Desiree to risk her heart and her career for love?

Sexy, witty, tender, and deeply poignant, Songbird is a pause-resisting tale that will ignite your senses and bring a smile to your heart.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the near future.

loved it

I liked the story, but I almost quit listening because of the narrator’s breathing between sentences. It sounds like small gasps and once you hear it, you can’t stop hearing it. Her narration is good other than that.

Decent story, bad breathing by narrator

So, this was okay. I realized something about myself—I’ve been reading too much dark and spicy romance, and a sweet one just doesn’t quite cut it for me. That said, the story is certainly good enough if that’s your preference. If you want a sweeter more “hopeless” romance, this will be a good fit. And if you prefer less explicit content, it’s quite mild. The intimate scenes are open door, but this author is very particular about the language she uses and how she describes things, it does not read as explicit at all. I have to applaud her wide range of vocabulary in managing that, btw. Some word choices made me snicker, but I respect the talent it takes to create a scene that’s steamy without being spicy (if that makes any sense at all).

I didn’t love the narration, though. I’ve listened to this narrator before and really like her, actually. I can only suppose that the direction she was given for this recording is the reason she sounds so incredibly monotone and just… dry. I think she did the best she could with what she was working with, but the style on this made it lack luster. Again—I like this narrator, just not this particular narration.
