Fantastic author with an equally fantastic narrator

Bernard Cornwall is a gem. He’s a master at building tension and suspense before and during battles. There’s enough history and military detail mixed in that I feel like I’m learning a bit along with being very entertained.
I’m excited to continue the series with this excellent new narration.
I enjoyed the narrator from the older audiobooks but the new recordings are much better quality and just as talented.

One helluva ride!

Bernard Cornwall certainly knows how to tell a story and how to make Richard Sharpe a true underdog that keeps the listener cheering all the while. I also appreciated learning how the Redcoats fought in India in 1805.

Excellent!

The performance of this and all of the other sharpe novels has been exemplary. I always mean to listen whilst doing something else, but find myself neglecting whatever the something else is because I am so captivated by the storytelling and rich narration.

Great new Performer

Love this performer and the accent he brings to Sharpe. I was disappointed that this was not an audiobook a few years ago. But glad to see it’s been added to the audio collection.

Another great book

Very exciting book that is read by the best voice actor I have ever heard.

As good as it gets in this genre

In this historical fiction space, this is it. Can’t put it down. Don’t want the series to end. ‘Nough said!

Another wonderful chronicle in the career of Richard Sharpe. This series is among my favorites in more than 600 books.

very good writing

Cornwall does it again. a very good picture of early 19th century war. set in India. pads padsing

Like a visit with old friends.

I felt so comfortable with this book it was a pleasure to listen to from beginning to end. An unexpected transportation back in time, meeting up with old friends. Both the story, a classic Bernard Cornwell gem and a wonderful performance by Rupert Farley exceeded my expectations.

If you’re a Sharpe fan not getting this book is self inflicted punishment, be kind to yourself you won’t regret it.

Bernard writes good action books

it's raw and wriggling with action. it's detailed without being slow or dull. the main character escapes death but not without taking a loss. it's just the way a good book should be.
