Fascinating Keel, Ace Hacker

Like Pete Ferrand, Michael Hacker gives a flawless, serious and enthusiastic delivery of Keel's superb prose and brilliant speculations. Keel entertains and bends the mind, always conceding that the paranormal may only be mental phenomena. Want a cure for boredom? Turn on some John Keel, especially when the hour is late and the moon is guiding the creatures of the night...below, above and within.

Really Enjoyable and Intriguing

SEARCHING for the STRING was more greatness from JOHN KEEL. I love this subject therefore it never gets old. Keel was someone I would have enjoyed meeting. He was continuously searching for new angles and with every book I've listened to by him, there's always some type of new information or another piece to the puzzle of the UFO mystery.

I especially liked this audiobook in particular as it brought a new perspective to the subject. I think he was ahead of his time with his research and his undying love to find the truth. Well, he knew the truth and steadfastly attempted to bring it into the light. In this book, he broached a few other related topics to the UFO phenomena. This book delivers and for those interested in this subject, I don't think it will disappoint.

I liked the Cosmic Blog section as well where the book shared correspondences to and from Keel. This was very interesting and good.

MICHAEL HACKER does a FANTASTIC job narrating this book. I like his style. He adds voice inflections where Keel would if he were reading his own book. Hacker's voice is clear, pleasant and steady making him a bonus while listening to this audiobook. He's easy to understand and speaks at a perfect pace. This was an overall super listen!

Third in an excellent trilogy on UFOs & humanity

Starting with 1) Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind (5*s!), then continuing with 2) The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone, and then concluding with 3) Searching for the String . . . these collected writings of John Keel are informative and thought-provoking.

Because he spent so much time interviewing witnesses or experiencers, and talked with so many people over a long period of time, and because he focused on the mystery with such passion for detail and excellence in research methods, John Keel's collected writings have an advantage over other UFO-related books.

Also, I have often wondered which books or authors in this genre have credibility and John Keel's personal correspondence which is included here answers some questions about some people. That alone was pretty helpful.

The narration is good, the editorial comments are helpful, and I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it is that these articles, writings and commentaries have been preserved and made accessible since many of the old magazines they were written for are not available.

The Q&A section within is fantastic.

I would recommend also listening to Graham Hancock's book Supernatural, it would further expand on John Keel's ponderings as to who/what is behind these events.

Smart, witty, entertaining and informative!

John, Keel’s books are always fun to listen to, and this narrator is fantastic! I have several but I liked this one in particular.

just a note to say that this is the third volume of Colvin's collections of Keel's writings.

Great for skywatching at night.

I really enjoyed this book. There is a channel on YouTube, called 'Beyond Creepy'. It is narrated by Mr. Black. He should be hired to read Keel's work.

Tedious compilations of early sightings and BLAH.

There is a lot of overlap in these books by and about John Keel. A lot of the material is boring summaries of sightings from the 1950s and 1960s. But it gets worse. Keel gets up on his high horse to lecture us poor plebeians about what it all means. He is fully invested in his personal narrative. Too bad.
