Resumen del Editor

The Complete Guide to Mysterious Beings is a comprehensive encyclopedia of the unexplained, with incredible eyewitness accounts of strange creatures from around the globe, including:

  • Angels and demons
  • Dinosaurs that still roam the earth
  • Bigfoot, Yeti, Sasquatch, and other hairy monsters
  • The Loch Ness Monster, the Silver Lake Sea Serpent, and other water creatures
  • Dragons
  • Flying phantoms, man-birds, and other winged humanoids
  • Flying snakes and other "animals"
  • Carnivorous plants from outer space
  • Unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and submarine objects (USOs)
  • Aliens, bedroom invaders, and cattle rustlers from the skies
  • Green men, leprechauns, fairies, and other "little people"
  • Vampires and werewolves

From the upper Nile to the lower Ganges, from the roof of the world in Tibet to remote hamlets in West Virginia, John A. Keel has long been on the trail of weird creatures and strange phenomena.

He has lived in New York, Hollywood, New Orleans, Paris, Baghdad, Cairo, Calcutta, and a number of exotic places in between, and is an acknowledged expert on the world of the paranormal.

No one alive is better qualified to report on and interpret the fantastic evidence gathered in this book.

A syndicated columnist, John Keel's writings have appeared throughout the world for Playboy, FATE, SAGA, High Times, and other popular magazines, and he has appeared on televisions shows such as the Tonight Show, David Letterman, and What's My Line. The film based on his book, The Mothman Prophecies, starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney, has become a cult classic.

Not what I was expecting

I thought this book would be accounts of mysterious beings or creatures. It's about 75% aliens and the rest is a scattering of unknown creatures. If you like aliens or UFO'S, then you'll like this book. If you're looking to listen about unknown creatures, don't bother.

pretty good.

I liked this book quit a bit, my biggest issue was I did not know that it was written in 1994. the author mostly talks about stuff from the 60s so it is a bit dated, but still has good info and is enjoyable.

Some of KEELS best work. Mandatory reading

mandatory reading for all of John Keel fans. I've read all his work and in some cases two or three times such as this book it's even better on Audible.

One of Keel’s Best

All hail Keel. Definitely one of his best, and I’ve listened to many of his books on Audible. The narrator is good too, he narrates a lot of Keel’s books it seems like.

Ghosts, ghouls, lake monsters, dragons, what more can you want?

Keel's a Thrill, Pete's a Treat, 'Squatch is Top-Notch

Everybody overlooks that Pete Ferrand has an excellent voice and is perfectly suited to narrate these classic accounts by the brilliant John Keel. Ferrand takes you back to the days of deep-voiced 1970s TV announcers who did not inject their opinions on whatever they were talking about. Keel is absolutely the best UFO and monster writer America has ever produced. His work has it all: erudition, clarity, deadpan humor, and awe-inspiring speculations. His unwillingness to embrace crackpot theories just makes his analyses all the more cogent. I wish the Rosetta cover had been used for this title, which I believe is also available on Audible under the title Strange Creatures from Time and Space. Since this one is about 15 minutes longer I got it instead, But I love that Frazetta cover of the other one!

Interesting, but it drags

Interesting topic but audio quality is less than stellar and the reader drones a bit as a consequence. I enjoy Keeles writing but this particular book was not my favorite.

The flaws of Mr. Keel

While credit is due to John Keel for recording and spreading many fascinating legends of the anomalous, his credulous embellishing is impossible to ignore. During the first few chapters alone Keel exposes his own ignorance and calls spiders "insects" and bats "flying rodents". If we can't trust him with elementary school biology it would be foolish to trust his scholarly and historical work as well.
