Nicholas thinks it's all just as much a crock as Ellie's business is, but the fact remains that something is causing the flashes of light, mysterious accidents and other apparent pranks in the chilly, eerie castle. His mother is sure that Xavier is real, and he's willing to employ Ellie if she can get to the bottom of it and put a stop to the nonsense.

While the food and accommodations are somewhat disappointing (IKEA furniture? Really?), Ellie is finding it an adventure to get to know this eccentric family and their houseguests and to poke around in the nearby village for clues. But when an actual dead body appears - and subsequently disappears - at Castle Hartford, she'll have to apply her talent for trickery and psychological insight to solve a flesh-and-blood murder.

Pretty good

This is a pretty good book but it took me a while to get into it. The characters are well developed but the pacing of the story is slow in the beginning. I forced myself to continue and discovered an interesting book. I hope the next book doesn't take so long to develop. Sarah Zimmerman did a great job with the accents. I look forward to the next book.

Light mystery/romance, well narrated.

I was worried that this book would be more in the supernatural mystery or horror genres but was relieved that it was just a light brush of that and more of a real mystery. The genre “lumping” that audible and other providers have been doing makes one wary.
The narrator did an excellent job.

What a fun story!

What a fun story! I thoroughly enjoyed the snarky interactions between Nicholas and Ellie. Ellie is my kind of heroine. She's intelligent, funny, and keeps her eyes on the prize. Looking forward to reading book two!

Well written and well paced out. I was never bored. The whole time I wanted to get answers, but didn’t want the story to end!

This book was a good find. Kept me guessing right until the end. I quite enjoyed the narration as well. Looking forward to the next book!

I like the premise and the main character. And of course I want to know the next phase of Ellie’s life journey. The paranormal is just getting started.

This was a surprisingly good book!

Wait until you get past the first few minutes and then it will start to pull together. At first it seemed like it would just be the story of an overly confident spiritualist but as soon as you get more information the main character starts to become someone you can feel with; so I just wanted to encourage you to keep reading or listening.
