It's "Home Alone" in the White House!
Would you listen to Screw You, Mr. President again? Why?
I would share this with my teenager and listen to it again with her - perhaps in the car. :-) It's very funny and I laughed out loud in several places.
What did you like best about this story?
The author really captured the way many young teenagers speak and behave. You put that "normal" teen behavior in the White House - which is usually associated with more decorum - and it's a recipe for some good laughs.
Which scene was your favorite?
I liked several scenes, but the one where Megan (the President's teenaged daughter) and Josh (the VPs 14 year old son) hide in the walk-in refrigerator in order to avoid the house-wide thermal scan for body count, got my attention. It's funny and is something I never would have thought of.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The final birthday party scene with Megan and her father was a nice, poignant resolution to the rest of the story.
Any additional comments?
It was well-performed and funny. It's a terrific premise, and the author made the most of it. There were some scenes that I originally thought might be unrealistic, and a couple of brief places where I got a little confused about what was happening at the time, but the way it ended explained everything in a satisfactory way. Definitely worth a listen if you have ever spent any time around teenagers and you like to laugh out loud. :-)
