Super cute YA fairytale story. She’s a Grimm that lives the different fairytale stories. If you love Grimm’s fairy tales then this one is for you.

I loved the story because it really took me through my hatred of all things Grim and didn't make the heroine out to be someone perfect and easily understood. I think it's interesting when you can come up with complex characters, and I hope to see in the next book I see some depth to the supporting characters as well as a twist and hopefully not just all tweeny romance! I kept secretly hoping to book would end up liking her and choosing to help her through based off of its sheer boredom of lack of action. I'm just looking for more imagination and for things to come alive. We all know what real life is like, and it's nice to see that the writer doesn't make everyone out to be the perfect person, but also showcases some of their weaknesses.

Refreshing ideas and not disappointed!

I picked up UnEnchanted expecting your run-of-the-mill YA fantasy romp. What I got was a cursed muffin, a sarcastic talking squirrel in my dreams, and a serious fear of mirrors.

This book is what would happen if the Grimm brothers had a baby with high school drama and then forgot to raise it, so it was raised by awkward social anxiety and the ghost of fairy tales past.

Mina Grime (yes, that’s her real last name—foreshadowing much?) is a total klutz, which I relate to because I once fell up the stairs holding a taco. Turns out, Mina is descended from the actual Grimm brothers, and she’s being hunted by fairy tale monsters because of course she is. High school was already bad enough without your math teacher possibly being a troll in disguise.

Chanda Hahn writes like she’s got a direct line to your inner teenager—the one who daydreamed about slaying dragons and your crush noticing your new hoodie. It’s cheesy in the best way, like pizza that’s maybe been enchanted by a woodland witch.

Highlights include:
• A random guy named Jared who might be a guardian angel or a hot hallucination.
• Evil fairy tale beasts that seem oddly familiar, like a bedtime story on acid.
• A plot twist that made me drop my grilled cheese sandwich (RIP).

Was the pacing weird? Yes. Was I confused? Often. Did I still yell at the book like it was a horror movie every time Mina did something dangerous? Absolutely.

In conclusion, UnEnchanted is like opening a dusty attic trunk and finding a glittery sword, your grandmother’s diary, and a slightly cursed puppet. Strange, charming, and a little spooky. I’m pretty sure I’m 12% more magical now.

I think I'll look for more in the series. Twisted ending makes me want to know how she will go on.

UnEnchanted is a very good start to a series. I have not listened to any of the sequels yet, but I will. It is definitely on the easy/light side. There could be more depth to the characters and story. Some parts are classic tale and some will keep you guessing. It was very enjoyable.

The narrator's pitch was a little harsh/high, but that could have been my phone. She did a great job bringing the story to life. She did well with voicing different characters. She put emphasis in all the right places. Great job!

This audiobook is definitely geared toward a teen or young adult audience, but some adults and younger children might also appreciate it. There is no cursing, sex, or graphic violence. There is some fighting and teenage romance (kissing). I highly recommend this audiobook for any age group!

Great Light Reading
