Saving Him!

"Saving Him" is the second part of the "Keep Me" duet. You need to read/listen to the first story before this one. The story is about Lucian and Adeline. It is a dark romance with violence and possible triggers. Since the previous read ended in a cliffhanger this one picks up with the after math. Adeline finds out that the people she thought cared for didn't and the person she thought was awful cares deeply. I enjoyed how this story unravels and you see dark, ugly and truth. I thought the narrators of the audiobook really did a good job bringing the story and characters to life. It was definitely a captivating and intense read/listen.

I'm going to tell you, I read the first book, and I didn't really like the characters. I thought Lucien was a cruel, harsh, unfeeling, jerk. Honestly, who buys women to steal their virginity? Adeline, I thought she was plain stupid and naive. I thought Adeline was ridiculous for giving in to Lucien. This book makes up for the bad feelings I had from the first book. Adeline and Lucien both went through some harsh things at the hands of people who were supposed to care about them. By far, Lucien's abuse and neglect was worse. It made me understand his neurosis' a little bit more. Lucien was lucky his uncle saved him. I wonder did Jackson have feelings for Adeline beyond platonic? What I thought was sad was that Adeline thought her original fiancé loved her and she could love him. Oh how wrong she was! You couldn't ever do that to someone you claimed to love! In this bad situation though, Adeline saved Lucien and Lucien saved Adeline. Everyday Adeline cures Lucien of his crazy tendencies. At the end, Jackson met a woman, who will be in the 3rd book.

A favorite.

What an amazing HEA for Lucien and Adeline. You can't help but fall in love with them both. Twists and turns, up and downs, what a ride! The Keeping Me Series, Bk 1 & 2 are not to be missed if you like dark romance. Highly recommend. I have to call this a favorite series.Looking forward to Jax's story.
The dual narration was wonderful, especially the female. They added alot to the emotion of the story.

The crazy continues as these two fall. Lucien is special and has a lot of "quirks" shall we say, but Adeline was good for him. Their beginning may have been unconventional... convoluted may be a better word, but if you get sucked into dark romances, then you'll know somehow the horrible beginnings seem to be fate. I cringe writing this thinking of the abuse and depraved situations these two went through, especially Lucien. It was hard to listen to, even though it isn't really fully on page. I mean you do not need the details (and thank goodness we did not get any more details than we did), but trigger warnings should DEFINITELY be heeded. I listen and read a lot of things that touch on the horrible crimes, and it always disgusts me, but somehow it seemed to hit worse in this book. Their love becomes so strong, and after heart stopping moments and suspense, they finally see a happily ever after that was so beautiful for them!

Captivating!

Saving Him, the second book in the Keep Me series is a well-written and captivating dark romance. After the shocking ending to Keeping Her, the first book, my expectations were set pretty high for the sequel. All I have to say is Saving Him delivered in the best way possible. There wasn't a dull moment. The storyline is intense, suspenseful, heartfelt, hot, and steamy, wrapped in unexpected twists. What drew me in the most was how well-developed the characters were, their dynamics, and the complexity of their emotions. I've genuinely enjoyed the series, and I'm crossing my fingers Angela Snyder publishes Watching Her in audiobook so I can continue the series.

Stephen Borne and Auri Alden did an outstanding job with the narration. They grasped and enacted the complex personalities, emotions, and connections between the characters. Saving Him was a fantastic second installment with a great plot and excellent narration, one I'll highly recommend.
