Very enjoyable!

I have just spent the last 5 days listening to this series. just wonderful! sad its over. all men and women are fully drawn characters. I love love the action, romance and ingenious way Tank created his safe haven. here's hoping the next generation is coming up! I'd like to see where this author would take us when they can start living outside again.

Another Excellent Story!

These stories are too short! They are so good I want them to go on and on.

This is an excellent series and will keep to listen again and again.

What An Outstanding Series!

Kennedy Layne's Surviving Ashes series may just be the best series I've read this year! You won't want to miss the nonstop action and the surprises throughout the continuing plot. I highly recommend this entire series.

Wet blanket of ash to close the series

Book 4’s ending showed us Van and Allie’s arrival at Lost Summit. This book takes us back to the day before the Yellowstone eruption and repeats the same events already trod through in the previous four books. There’s lots of thoughts about how bad things are going to get. There’s lots of lectures on not trusting people and making necessary, ruthless choices. There’s lots of info dumps on what happens when volcanic ash covers the world, especially how it screws up cars and people’s lungs.

And, per usual, our white, trim MCs have rough backstories and no families, and the majority of this book (6 out of 7.5 hrs) is spent with just the two of them traveling from New York to Washington state.

There’s some minor adjustments, like showing us how the apocalypse starts in a big city.
Overall, however, the thin bandwidth made this feel rather redundant. Finally, there’s the cringey narration (especially in the shower scene, another recycled scene from previous couples) and his nickname for her as Princess. Color me underwhelmed.
