It was fine

I liked the first two, but this one was a bit meh. It didn't really feel like the characters had any real agency, and the reveals sort of took away from some of the previous books. Also I don't know why exactly, but I dislike the cat.

good story

the story is good but compared to Evernya Rising
a story on royal road written by the same author it bland. If he gave that story the same care it would be amazing

Dialogue who needs Dialogue

Until perhaps the 6 hours left in the book mark there might have been less than one page of dialogue. It's all looks and sending images. Over and over sending images through the bond instead of speaking.

While with twins and a bond this might be realistic it doesnt make for good reading or enjoyment when its every single interaction. Send images of rebuke but tinged with love, ect ect. For all interactions its just these images.

Even with her crew she just sends looks or nods but doesn't speak.

This is a book for boat lovers as shell put the crew lifes in danger multiple times to risk saving her ship instead of abandoning it to flee inland. She clearly values it more then people.

Then their is how Racist the MC is. Like every other statement from her is how superior race she is and her pride and lesser beings. Always inferior humans This and human that. The inferior humans needing to eat and breath. Yet shes the one taking naps when shes supposed to be on watch because shes a little tired.

In any other book where a character starts spouting superior race and inferior humans they'd be the scumbag villain. Honestly it makes her unlikable almost like a entitled rich girl attitude.

Then she makes stupid choices like ignoring the system or being lazy and using crutches for her magic. Yet she also now let's her family berate her for things she had no fault in. Like the magic pill, its literally a reward and she had to take it. she couldn't put it down or carry it around to battle. What else is she supposed to do with a reward pill. Expecting her to know what it would do and plan for that out of all the possibilities came off a petty by her sister.

Honestly I preferred when she was alone and taking risks , killing and leveling. This whole babysat and 10 hours of inner monologues was super boring. If the next book is just as bad then I'll be down with the series.

Also because the twins sound so simliar it's hard at times to tell who is talking. When they do finally start using words.
