Constructive criticism

The story was good and the female narrator did a great job. Her voices for alternate characters were great. The male narrator was such a bad fit for this story. I’m sure he’s great for other stories, but yikes! I almost stopped listening over a dozen times because it was so mismatched that it made it impossible to enjoy the story. Honestly, I found the female narrator’s voice for the MMC more enjoyable. I think this audiobook had great potential, but ended up being a difficult listen. I would recommend reading it instead.

This reminded me of what a 5 star read is!!!

I was drawn in from the very first chapter! I couldn’t wait to know what happened next! It set the bar for a 5 star read!

Male reader, not for me

I think this story had some potential, if I could give any advice I’d say to read this one instead of listening to it. I almost didn’t finish this because I really couldn’t stand the reader for the male characters, to me he sounds like an old cranky (kind of annoying) man 🤷‍♀️ definitely not hot, dark, and broody….

Okay retell but badly miscast male reader

This audiobook would have been so much better had it not miscasted with a flamboyantly gay male reader that has such a (not even remotely sexy) tone of voice. There is no suspension of disbelief here. He doesn't even really try. Generally we listen for the sexy escape, not to feel like my gay friend is reading a story to me.. He really ruins the read and is a bit cringy and comical at times. Chapter 65 was supposed to be sexy but was terrible 😫
The female reader has a better male persona than the male reader. They just should have paid her to do the entire book. I literally dreaded each part he read. It's really unfortunate, and I hope they didn't recast him for the sequel.

Great story/retelling but awful male reader

I love this story! I was hooked immediately. Fun and fast read. The female voice actor is amazing. I wish she did the entire book. The male reader was not just nasally, whiny and hard to listen to - but the delivery was terrible. I would be so wrapped up in the story and then hear his voice and immediately be taken out of it. I actually decided to read the rest of the story rather than listen. But that worked out - the book is amazing ♥️ totally worth the read!

I gave the performance 3 stars. It would have been 1, but the female voice actor was wonderful - funny and charming and did a better job sounding like Cassius than the guy.

Decent story-TERRIBLE Narration!

First, the negative. Bad narration can ruin a book and these were BAD. While they may be wonderful narrators; the story determines a lot and it was just...bad. Her male voice and his female voice were the absolute worst. It was like nails on a chalkboard...on repeat...
The story was decent. A fun play on Cinderella. There wasn't a new twist on it but it was fun. She talks to animals and has a rat as a companion. There was a mean stepmother and an old 'seer' who lived in the woods and helped her to get ready for the ball. There was even a time limit that it needed to be done by (not midnight but still...) Also, she lost her glass shoe when she ran away.
The story is basically that there are vampires who treat humans as 'less than' and a human girl who joins the resistance to try to free the humans but falls in love with the vampire prince. Again, it was a fun read.
