Resumen del Editor

Col. John Randal and Raiding Forces continue the mission in Book XI, Raiding Rommel.

Operation Crusader has had a devastating effect on the Desert Patrol gun jeep patrols due to the constant non-stop pace of operations and being misused by Middle East Command. The new US troops of the 575th Parachute Infantry Regiment (Separate) (Special) aka "Rangers" are being amalgamated into Raiding Forces after rotating through the British Commando School and completing "Blood in the Sand’ training under Capt. "Mad Dog" Reupart and Sgt. Maj. "March or Die" Mikkalis ably assisted by the ex-French Foreign Legion veterans of Blue Patrol. Brandy Seaborn alerts Col. Randal to a solid gold mission to assassinate Nazi Hauptman Alfred Seebohm, Rommel’s Merlin - the commander of the Afrika Korps signals intelligence unit that has exploited the Eight Army’s total lack of radio security. Meanwhile "Wild Bill’"Donovan, the chief of the Office of Strategic Services, invites Col. Randal to become the head of Special Projects.

Amazing

By far this is the best series of books I’ve listened too. Narration is amazing. Wish they could push the books out faster.

Fun while it lasted...

Sadly the repetitions of scenes, dialogue, catchphrases, and really irritating and unnecessary female characters who seem to be multiplying book by book (now up to 10!) have overcome my pleasure at what has been a very enjoyable series. For that enjoyment thanks very much.

I guess anyone will run out of fresh ideas for what amounts to a formula telling in the style of WEB Griffin of WW2 adventures of a small fictional commando/special forces brigade. I was tempted to hit the stop button on Book 9 due to the increasingly padded content - especially the quite terrible female characters (phoney, self absorbed yappy supermodel types who seemed to be contributing nothing more than living poolside furniture between actual story events, and who could only exist in a 1980s Playboy issue) and the quite terrible female narration (corpse for Corps, Looftwaff for Luftwaffe, etc plus screechy unconvincing and inconsistent accents) ...well, obviously it took this long for these dislikes to overcome my enthusiasm for the next novel. But I think the main problem with this decline is the fact that if one removed all the repeated phrases and truly unnecessary background noise I suspect the listening time would reduce to about 4.5 hours and that is not really very good value for a single novel especially when half the 9+ hours detract from the other half.

If you're thinking of listening to this series start at #1 and keep going. For me, listening to 10 books by one author is a record matched only by Agatha Christie, Terry Pratchett, and Patrick O'brian so you definitely have some fun ahead of you.
