I ran from my cruel fiance . . . and found myself in the arms of three powerful shifters.
When I throw myself at the mercy of the Ringmaster in No Man's Land, I'm only seeking temporary refuge. A place to hide from the corruption and death that waits for me back home.
Three months. That's all I have until the protection the circus provides me expires.
My bodyguards? Three shifters who look at me like they want to eat me for dinner. They want my body. My heart.
And even as the attraction I feel for them is stronger than anything I've ever felt, neither of those are mine to give. Not anymore.
The past I'm running from still holds me captive. But in the arms of my protectors, I've never felt more free.
Contains mature themes.

I did appreciate the mystery and the twists the author kept giving us throughout the story. I liked Sway's powers and how she proved them to the guys, I snort giggled so loudly!! I liked the 3 guys and their banter, and how Sway was with each of them. She had to be super fierce with Duncan who was the last to cave/was the more stoic of the bunch. Bracken and Killian were different but so alike, they both gave glimpses of playful and flirty hahaha. I liked the competitive nature of them and seeing who kissed who first and playing up on that. I liked that they didnt mind sharing, that even those Duncan is the head alpha it seems in their pride, it was never really a p*ssing contest if that makes sense. I loved seeing them shift and take on any obstacle or danger, protecting the circus and their family but also Sway, even before they knew who she was to them.
The narration to me made this 4.5 stars (I rounded up because I liked the storyline so much). The way the guys were portrayed was very different depending on the narrator. One of them gave Killian and lower deeper gruff sound, while he sometimes sounded whiny and higher pitched. I thought the rollercoaster of emotions was done well though, and the growing love within their pride was adorable and swoon worthy. I also think how the 2 narrators differed with the bad guy voices was a little jarring. I think that is more feedback for the editing company to give the narrators feedback so they are as consistent as possible. Nothing too much on the narrators since they are given notes and are told to change them if they aren't matching what the author was looking for.
Overall I liked this action-filled standalone in this universe, I liked getting some awesome cameos, seeing how Sway's power (which she had been forced to use for nefarious reasons in the past) could be used in some scary and sad situations to make things better. I liked the chemistry between the characters, the feeling evoked with the narration during the explanation/backstory scenes. I also liked the acts that were described and mentioned throughout the book. I could see them in my head, author did a great job with putting it all together and giving us some Greatest Showman vibes!
Enjoyed this standalone! Great banter
