Solid Thriller

When rich girls start to turn up dead, there are plenty of theories as to why. The parents are suspicious, everyone is suspicious. When FBI agent Victoria Heslin’s work takes her into the depths of a sex trafficking ring, she enlists the help of an old friend to save the girls stuck in that prison.

I didn’t read the first book in this series, but even so, it was easy to get lost in this second book. It was full of suspense, mystery, and intrigue. Every time I thought I figured it out, there were twists that threw me for a loop. Characters are solid, and even the bad guys had enough character development that it was easy to understand their motives.

Though this book deals with some heavy topics such as sex trafficking and corruption, it’s still an immersive read.

Narration is good, especially with the accents.

Great Read

Pretty Little Girls was a great read by Jenifer Ruff. A prep school girl from an affluent family goes missing, which leads to many hidden secrets. Victoria is a FBI agent who is asked to assist the local police in investigating the disappearance. No matter how hard she tries, the girls resist her help. She uncovers a sec trafficking operation and Victori asks Dante, another agent, to help with the case. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by Jenifer Ruff.

Pretty little girls

I usually don't read these types of books. I prefer cozy mysteries but I liked the blurb and thought I would give it a go.
And I have to admit that I enjoyed listening to it more then I thought I would.
This is in a different spectrum to cozy mysteries, it is more darker and delves into the side of life that people don't really see.

This book has violence, rape (we don't see it but we can hear what is being done or are told), drugs and I can't remember if there was profanity. If there were it would have been done well for me not to remember.
I would actually recommend this book if you don't mind the things I mentioned above.

Can be read as a standalone but suggest starting with the equally fantastic book 1 the numbers killer
Interesting characters with a dark plot I finished this in one sitting
Once again Stephanie provides excellent narration
If your a fan of mystery/thrillers I highly recommend jenifer ruffs work

Great Thriller

Pretty Little Girls is the second novel in the Agent Victoria Heslin series, but it is not necessary to read the first novel before this one.

FBI agent Victoria Heslin is called in to investigate the case of missing girl. Rich, young, and pretty the feds begin to question if her disappearance is linked to a smuggling ring. Victoria is a great character, tenacious and caring. The novel also introduces you to other girls who were kidnapped as part of the smuggling ring and then sold into sex slavery.

The novel flawlessly combines many different points of view as well as balancing the thrills of an FBI case with the perilous the girls go through. I very much enjoyed the novel which I received for free in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own.

Well written thriller. Good characters

A great thriller involving sex trafficking, corruption, and solid detective work. I enjoyed the interplay between characters, although I mixed up two of the law enforcement officials, and that confused me a bit. This was probably from hearing two Irish surnames and putting them together in my head as "The Irish Cop." Oops, that is the down side of audiobooks...sometimes your mind can wander more than with paper books. This is not the author's fault or the narrator's

Outside of my own faults, I have nothing but praise for both the author and the narrator. The author did a great job of developing the characters (sometimes this is difficult in a second book of a series, but I felt I had enough information to understand each of the characters and their motivations. The narrator did a great job with both Brooklyn and Ukrainian accents, and it was easy to tell everyone apart.

I had a good part of the mystery figured out near the end (maybe a few too many clues) but there were still some unexpected twists.

Captivating!

This is the second book by Jenifer Ruff that I’ve listened to. I’ll definitely be looking for more!

A deeply disturbing look at human trafficking.....

Pretty Little Girls is the second book in the series, but I think that it could be enjoyed as a standalone. However, I highly recommend both the writing and narration of the first book in the series, The Numbers Killer. Once again, FBI Special Agent Victoria Heslin is neck deep in a dangerous and intriguing mystery as she attempts to find the missing daughter of a prominent family. Victoria is originally sent in to assist the local police department at the behest of her boss (whose wife is friends with the girl's mother), but she becomes invested in solving the case when she realizes that the local police department is not aggressively pursuing leads. Once she discovers that the girl is the victim of a human trafficking ring, Victoria pulls out all the stops to find the girl and save not only her but other victims of this brutal crime. The action and twists and turns of the case go right until almost the final paragraph of the book, and I listened straight through because I had to know what was going to happen next. As with the first book, we get occasional glimpses into the background and character of Victoria and why she is so fiercely protective of victims, and I grow to enjoy her more and more with everything I watch her do and learn about her.

Stephanie Dillard narrates both books in the series, and I really appreciate that continuity between books. Plus, she is a wonderful narrator and the perfect choice for the various facets of Victoria's character. With her higher pitch, almost lilting voice, Dillard also handles the voices of the scared and young girls in the book extremely well. I am looking forward to hearing more from Dillard soon.

Great series so far

I really like Victoria Heslin as a character and Stephanie Dillard voices her and the other characters with an excellent performance. The story is quite suspenseful and manages to obscure contrivances with enough realism to make it believable. This is a great series so far.

Painfully boring

This is likely the uninteresting book I’ve ever listened to. The characters are lame and Victoria seems childish. There is barely a plot, let alone any clever twists. Save your credit
