The King of Short Stories
Winslow is a phenomenal writer, and he absolutely shines with his short stories. Dietrich is no exception to this rule. Fast paced with good character development, Winslow is able to take what could have been a full novel and gives us a tremendous haunting short story. Ed Harris was the perfect narrator. If you are looking for a quick in between read, choose this one. You won’t regret it.

Great Short Story
First of all, Ed Harris is awesome as the narrator. The story is really great, and the characters are deep in a short period of time and a short story. The ending took me by surprise.

Good read
Generally I don't like short stories. I rarely find them worth reading. ."Dietrich" was an exception. It worked.Entertaining, interesting story. Well written. I did see the sad ending coming, though. I'd recommend it.

Good short story
After listening to so many cop dramas, this guy was a horrible example of a beat cop or detective. I don’t see how many cops would show up half lit with vodka running in their veins day after day and be tolerated because they closed some cases in the past. 👎

Realistic drunk.
This portrayal of an alcoholic is credible. Drinking when he had decided not to; self-loathing; loss of relationships; vague memory and blackout. Didn't see the end coming.
