Wow-but in a bad way

What?! Okay, I’m sorry but Jessica did NOT live up to expectations. I mean Nox and Ellie are constantly fighting and he keeps telling her that she is using him and she IS and then Twig loses his wings and Gussie betrayed them and everything is falling apart and I have to say-it was overall not a very enjoyable story! Like, we have this HUGE buildup where everything fell apart and then the only way it works out is when these total COINCIDENCES happen like Nox appearing just before Ellie dies and Ellie somehow smashes the earth stone(like, was I the only one who got NO explanation on that whatsoever?!). I must say, I was tempted to just go on to my next audiobook(well, I have none because I used all my credits) and just write a good review but no! I decided to actually think about the book and decide-was it a good book. So please, try to skip all the comments that are just yay awesome book! and more talking about the book alright? Great!

Don’t listen to Kindle Customer!!!

The only reason they didn’t get any explanation is because they weren’t listening to it enough! There was a big explanation right before Nox broke out of the rock! Anyway, I thought it was a good book because everything wrapped up nicely at the end. So I loved it!

Excellent YA book!

Jessica Khoury is one of my favorite YA authors and her audio books are always amazing. This Skyborn series is even more complex and meaningful than I’d anticipated and still super entertaining and exciting!

We are skyborn!

It was an interesting turn on skyborn. they added way more magic to the story which was fun and did amazing on the tragedy parts. Guusy is a traitor and twig lost his wings. Nox and Ellie are disfunction without other friends. A lot of it was just Nox and Ellie whining.

did not disappoint

the 3 books are amazing. I couldn't stop listening. I laughed, cried, got angry, for all the feels. I assume they're targeted to children and young adults, but this 49 year young woman loved it all.

This is suck a great and fantastic book

I enjoyed listening this book and it is a work of art. It leaves you clutching to your seat in anticipation. I have never listened to a book so great as this one. I would definitely recommend this audiobook and the entire skyborn series to the ages of 9-17.

I love how well the author builds the relationship of Ellie and Nux really establishing deep and heartfelt connections.

Skies

A joy lifting book. After I listened to it, I start to wonder what it would be like to have wings of my own.
Here for people who believe and imagine a better world.

Adventure

Great narrators, good story line, good characters. Lots of action and adventure for a wide age group.

Captivating World. Confused Author

I wanted to love this series. The first book felt solid, though I had my issues, I could look past them. The world is a great setting, the author did a good job making it visually come alive.

I’m really confused how this is a mid grade book for 8-12 year olds. The violence gets pretty out of hand and on top of that the mental trauma and depression levels get very high and the author would get in a rut where she wouldn’t leave those tones for several chapters. Mainly in this book (number 3) and the second book of the series.

There is little character development, instead all the characters kind of 180 instantly. Honestly, even though that is poor writing, I was glad because I just wanted to know the ending and didn’t want the negativity of the writing to continue. The narrator did a good job for what she was handed, but sometimes the voice was too much because of all the time spent on negative emotions. Felt like running in circles very quickly.

Character voices felt very mid grade, context and character actions felt very YA or adult, so it was hard hard to stomach fighting, mutilation, and killing scenes next to kids speech using words like ‘silly’ and ‘dork’. On top of that, I questioned 12 year olds accomplishing many things that occur in this story. It sticks out. I’m okay with the themes in the story, just wish the writing reflected the age range of who actually would read it, or if you want a fairly graphic and harder to swallow book for real life concepts, write for YA or higher.
