Resumen del Editor

Bradley Langston, college dropout and drifter, is at a dead end. His last stop before living out of his car with a wet dog and a murderous ball of fluff is a caretaker’s job at Pottsville East Shady Terraces cemetery.

The cemetery is a mess, and it’s going to take a lot of work to make right, which is more than Brad bargained for when he took the job. To complicate matters, the long-term residents of Shady Terraces turn out to be a little restless. And needy.

For starters, a murdered woman appears and implores Brad to help find her killer. In days, Brad has a crowd of ghosts invading his space, including one evil spirit bent on possessing him and using him to perpetrate her revenge on the world.

Brad’s default setting is to run away when things get tough. Can he make a stand on the grounds of Shady Terraces, or is he doomed to repeat the failures of his own haunted past?

Pretty good book

If you like ghosts, murder mysteries and a bit of comedy thrown in this is a pretty good book.

Excellent, sarcastic, fast, fun easy listening!!

I really like Scott Bell and when i saw this book I was hoping for another Sam Cable book. But since I enjoy him so much and the stellar narration by J. Scott Bennett I decided to give it a try. Although not my typical story of choice this duet is just too good to pass up.
To begin with, the story kind of reminded me of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaimin. There really isn’t a whole lot of similarities other than that it takes place in a graveyard that is haunted by the ghosts of those buried there. The ghosts speak to him and he is the only one who can see them or hear them.
The protagonist is Bradley Langston. He’s a recent college dropout and really has no aim. Broke and living out of his car (a Mazda) with his dog and kitten he’s grateful to get a job. It has a place to live, washer and dryer and fairly easy work. Upon his arrival he meets a man he believes is a go between to his actual employer. The man introduces himself and shows him his duties. Later when he speaks to his boss he mentions him and his boss has no idea who that man was. Turns out it was the first of the many ghosts he would come to meet.
The cemetery has had a string of caretakers, some lasting as little as one day. Another had died but there was no explanation why. Of course Bradley is curious and begins to dig. He’s actually thinking about leaving because one of the ghosts really scared him. But, his boss shows up and makes him an offer he just can’t refuse. Double the original offered salary plus benefits. What a deal! It was shortly after that the body of a nude, murdered woman shows up. She implores Bradley to find who killed her. The story gets more and more interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book.
Again, J. Scott Bennett does an outstanding job narrating. His deliverance of sarcasm is the best!! I wish he would narrate more books in the mystery/thriller genre.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!
