Finding out you’re the daughter of a famous serial killer isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
My father—the Seattle Slayer—is charismatic, intelligent, and charming.
He’s also trying to teach me to kill people, so…his good qualities don’t seem to matter much.
He’s kidnapped my boyfriend, a guy that I used to hate but grew to love.
Parrish, I’m coming for you. I’ll do anything—anything—to keep you safe.
Starting a new life as the most hated girl in Whitehall Prep was not in my gameplan.
But when I asked my dad what the point of all this was, you know what he said?“It’s payback, Princess.”The upper crust families in Medina have wrongs to answer for, wrongs that will be paid in blood—by me.
Justin Prior is back in town, and he's brimming with secrets.
The question is: how far will I go to uncover them?
Parrish is bruised and bleeding; Chasm burns with violent heat; Maxx is a thundercloud waiting in the wings. Lumen lies. Danyella knows. Kimber fights back.
Welcome to Medina, b*tches. Love-hate is in the air, and it isn't just me that feels it. This town is cursed in blood and diamonds.
I’ll win this thing, Dad.
Do your worst.

I enjoyed reading this series but even more so listing to it. The narrators are on point with each character and their traits. The book was brought to life for me with the narrators.
The story has a good pace with little breathers, and a strong story line. CM is phenomenal with creating amazing stories.
This books is a must listen.
Love IT !!!!

Okay… so the second installment dipped a bit for me.
Not because it’s bad exactly… but because it is aggressively YA in a way that starts to feel borderline ridiculous the longer you sit in it. This is technically a why choose dark romance, but we’re talking about 16/17/19-year-olds running around in billionaire-level chaos, surrounded by deeply disturbed adults with infinite money and zero boundaries.
As a woman in my late 30s, I can’t pretend I’m the target audience here. It’s a little cringe.
And yet…Like Jersey Shore in its prime, I could not look away.
Now let’s talk about the real crime here:
This book is almost 700 pages long, and somehow… barely anything happens.
The entire plot can basically be summed up as:
• Dakota and her rotating lineup of boyfriends (Chasm and Maxx) spend the whole book looking for missing Parrish
• Dakota’s father Justin (who may or may not be a serial killer) plays psychological chess with his daughter because he hates his ex-wife Tess
• A grown man is actively encouraging his underage daughter to sleep around (??? excuse me??)
• Dakota gets beaten up repeatedly by classmates while every adult in the vicinity remains conveniently blind
• There’s sex. In multiple places. With multiple dudes.
• The spice? …fine. Not bad. Not great. Just kind of there.
• Dakota is constantly spiraling about her feelings because she is sixteen and trying very hard to act thirty
• And yes, they take random jabs at millennials like it’s a personality trait
That’s it. That’s the book. So tell me why it needed to be 700 pages long.
I genuinely feel like this could’ve been 300 pages with the exact same outcome and half the filler.
And yet…
It’s still weirdly addicting.
It’s messy, dramatic, chaotic, and kind of a train wreck—but unfortunately, I am now emotionally trapped in this absurd rich-people-teen-thriller-romance universe.
Will I read book three?
Yes. Immediately? No. I need a breather. Because this series is exhausting.
But I’ll be back.
