Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

When she was suddenly given the opportunity of a new life in rural Jutland, journalist and archetypal Londoner Helen Russell discovered a startling statistic: the happiest place on earth isn't Disneyland but Denmark, a land often thought of by foreigners as consisting entirely of long, dark winters, cured herring, Lego and pastries. What is the secret to their success? Are happy Danes born or made?

Historia
In 1834, Osborne Russell joined an expedition from Boston, which proceeded to the Rocky Mountains to capitalize on the lucrative salmon and fur trade. Beginning at the age of 20, he detailed the life of a trapper in his journal and recorded his adventures through treacherous terrain, encounters with dangerous wildlife, and confrontations with the Rockies natives of the Rockies. Osbourne would remain there for the next nine years. Journal of a Trapper is his remarkable account as he developed into an experienced trapper and a seasoned mountain man of the Rockies.

Historia
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Exceptional Guide To The PNW!
I listened to this book as I've visited Seattle twice and barely got out of town to see and do things. I've got another trip planned in a few months and wanted someone who knows the area to give me ideas of things to do, and I got what I was asking for in this book. The author provides many options for sightseeing, day trips, overnight trips, parks, trails, small towns, hikes, and more. I suggest that you grab a pen and paper while listening and take notes! I, unfortunately, was driving while I was listening and couldn't take notes, but the narration is so easy to listen to I will gladly listen again! I highly recommend a listen even if you're only visiting the PNW for a weekend and looking for things to do.

This travel guide on the Pacific Northwest is like a goldmine of awesome adventures! It's got all those magical places like mountains, parks, and springs you hear in fantastical storybooks. It's even got some secret spots and small towns so you don't have to squeeze with other tourists. The narrator's voice is super easy to listen to, makin it a breeze to learn about the must-visit cities and even restaurants. Honestly, I never even thought about travelinh there before, but now I'm stoked to plan a trip there with my fam. If you want an exciting vacation, I highly recommend this book - can't wait to kickstart this super organized and magical adventure!

Excellent Guide
I have toured the Pacific Northwest and vowed I would go back on my own. This book made me realize just how much I missed, I didn’t know anything about Idaho in particular and now I really want to go there. This is a great guide for where to go and what to do when you get there. The narrator is excellent. Highly recommended.

Very Highly Informative Guidebook.
I have always debated where my family's following vacation site would be. I have roamed through travel guides but found nothing as exciting and inviting as this travel guide on the Pacific NorthWest. The guidebook has shared the magical and valuable resources that are worth exploring. The spectacular mountain views, the parks, the cuisine, the numerous trials, cultural sites, the festivals, the man-made lakes, and the therapeutical spring in Idaho.
I personally look forward to our next holiday in the North West Pacific States of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. I expect it to provide me and my family with an opportunity for life-long memories. Excellent documentation!

A SPLENDID JOURNEY AWAITS!
This wonderful guide by author RuthAnn Cole is so vividly related, that it’s a stand-alone work whether you actually visit the multitude of destinations in the Pacific Northwest or not.
I envisioned the hidden gems, tranquil Alpine lakes, pine forests, gorgeous state parks, quaint beachside towns, and other locations as if I were with a highly-experienced guide eager to share her “insider’s” knowledge with me.
There is no question in my mind that when I visit the Pacific Northwest, this one will be on my phone for listening and a hard copy in my backpack for easy reference.
Very highly recommended, not only for the tourist but for enchanting, colorful listening.
